Sharangovich has 10 points in his last 12. He's finding his footing.

The dude potted 31 last year, and we are running him out of town for a couple down months? This team struggles to score as is.
I'm not convinced Sharangovich will be a 30 goalscorer going forward given his shooting percentage was 17% noticeably above previous years (his next highest us 14%) and his career average (12%).

Even being a 20-25 goal guy going forward would be awesome, but that's not a guarantee seeing as he has 2 out of 5 seasons with 20 or more goals. (Was also on pace his rookie year)

He still has one of the best shot/stick handling combination on the team, so hopefully he can be more consistent in the future.

Ignore Cozens and Byram talk. (To expensive)

Target Jokiharju and Krebs in same idea as frost Farabee, yea or nay? (Cheap at mid /late rounder and no key roster players)
Cozens = top 6 player with 1C potential
Byram = 1st pair caliber defenseman

Krebs = bottom 6 center
Jokiharju = depth defenseman

I think the answer is obvious. With Wolf we aren't getting that high draft pick to draft that 1C and either of Frost or Zary have come anywhere close to a 30 goal and 68 point season. Also if we also target a defenseman in Buffalo I would personally like to go after Samuelsson.

Why are we targeting another RHD? We only have 5 of them on the main roster already.

Also, before the trade, I would have thought Frost and Farabee were too expensive too.

Am I out of my mind for thinking Cozens is overvalued? His stats aren't much better than Farabee or Frost, and I don't know a ton about his ceiling

Yeah, very overvalued.
He just fits the Calgary mold, and that is 100% why there seems to be smoke.

There doesn't seem to be a good fit between the two orgs in terms of what Buffalo's looking for, and what Calgary has/would give up.

It'd essentially be like adding a Zary/Coronato to this roster; which would be a big win for this team.

Cozens is extremely overvalued. I’m also not even that high on Byram if I’m being honest. Go check his numbers with and without Dahlin this year if you want a good jump scare

I know he’s still young and Dman take longer. Definitely a guy I’d take on the team but not at an outrageous cost as if it were written in stone he was our next 1D

It's really too bad that probably half the league has Buffalo as a no-trade spot.
Because Coleman, Kadri and Andersson would all be big adds for them, would help us shed cap and get younger, and then getting guys like Cozens/Byram to take a stab at seeing if we could unlock potential.

Kinda reminds me of Bouwmeester/Hanifin, to be honest.

I don't see it as obvious. Maybe our metrics or ideas of where we go next are different. But IMO targeting Krebs + Joker and abandoning the idea of Cozens + Byram make more sense to me.

Especially if the belief is that maybe they can be had for something slightly less than the Farabee/Frost trade.

Maybe it's just me then, but IMO Jokiharju is more of a 4/5 with solid 3/4 upside than our other RD who are 6/7. If he's cheap (4th or 5th) I'd be interested in giving him a tryout for a longer term role. IMO he's superior to Pachal with more upside and obviously better than Miromanov and Barrie. He's also pretty good, but often seemed to be asked to play too high of a role. IMO he's probably like a Olli Maata quality dman. Everyone thinks he's not good enough but doesn't think twice to shoehorn him higher and criticize him when he's over his head. It's not the number or the current position, it's the upside. But if we put him in a reasonable role (ie: solid #4), I think we laugh all day.

Krebs is a bottom 6 dman... that I'd hope we could deploy to replace Rooney. He should be better than Rooney with an upside that is bottom 9. Once everyone is back, then we just have a bunch of young guys sharing C responsibilities as a development until there's a need for them to go full time post Backlund/Kadri.

If this year is a year to reward the boys, this improves the roster if we are just bumping off guys that aren't at the baseline level we need. If we could consummate a deal for those two guys for a price about the same or less than Farabee/Frost, IMO it's worth it. It improves us now and it has an opportunity

We certainly could still use a guy like Samuelson, but why would Buffalo let go of him? I'm saying Krebs and Joker have been mentioned to being available in the past, but aren't the names in the spotlight now. Both guys can seemingly be had for a relatively low price and both could upgrade our roster. That's my thinking. I'm just looking in Buffalo's shadow vs doing the same as everyone else and getting blinded by the big names.

No. He is very overrated. People are obsessed with any ~6'2" Canadian "1-2 Cs" because of TSN's myth-mongering for decades
