Former first rounder whom we acquired for a second and had a very tenuous future with us. Has talent, but wasn't a core piece for us. Hence his inclusion in many trade threads by us. Him for Raanta is fair.

Saying we're being unreasonable when we drew a line in the sand at Dvorak, then trying to gaslight us now - keep digging yourself in your hole. Post history doesn't go away.
Dvorak and the 7th overall pick are pretty equal in value imo. I as a NYR fan wanted Dvorak+DeAngelo for Stepan and Raanta, was fine with 7th+DeAngelo, didnt want Strome+DeAngelo.

Didnt one poster also say that non-rangers fans are going to be surprised by the return of Stepan because of his status as a 1C, or something to that effect?

That thread had a whole lot of Dvorak/Strome/Keller or no deal, IIRC.

As a Ranger fan I'm very happy with this trade, hopefully the draft pick works out, Rangers high 1st round picks have not worked out very often.

I really thought Stepan had better numbers than he does. Someone compared him to Bozak in the Hamonic thread, and their stats (including advanced) are very similar.

NYR fans must be ecstatic, I know I would be if we got a top 10 pick for a player of that quality.

Returned a 7th overall pick, that's a measly return?

Its a pick. That's the point. Picks are not guaranteed to replace a regular 50 point scorer and it could be tough finding a backup that provided what Raanta did.

I think the Rangers lose on the ice today, but if they end up with a great player at #7 and DeAngelo develops into a top 4 guy, this will be a steal for the Rangers, but their window with Lundquist is not going to stay open for much longer. The Rangers win in being able to use that space to improve their team in other areas, but they also created more work for themselves in the immediate. There's just a lot of ifs with the Rangers' return. I think the Coyotes needed a player like Stepan after the crap of the past few weeks and they absolutely needed a goaltender.

Arizona gets a great character guy who has experienced some success and can produce and Raanta is almost certainly going to be their #1 goaltender. Really like the trade for AZ. I don't think its a bad deal for the Rangers and it gives them some flexibility that wasn't there yesterday, but the ?s are more with the Rangers in the way of what #7 and DeAngelo become.

Yes, they were insistent on one of the prime bluechip kids coming the other way. Obnoxious even. The threads are there for all to see.

It doesn't make sense to trade a center for a center, but that's what they wanted. Was told AZ fans weren't credible because Columbus fans were wrong about Nash once upon a time.

We had our share of desirables at 7 (Vilardi/Glass/Mittlestadt/Makar depending on who you asked) but we valued Dvorak a heck of a lot more to the point of being effectively untouchable for trade purposes. It's apparent Chayka agreed.

DeAngelo has attitude problems. He was traded from Tampa and one year after Arizona acquired him, they've moved him as well.

That is pretty telling.

At least we have a gauge for a top ten pick valuewise, wonder if that 7OA pick is still in play now that the Rags have caproom.

I'm not going back on anything, I've acknowledged what I said I wanted.

It's not my fault that you can't understand logic or read. When I say things like I'm not a general manager, one with an understanding of simple logic would be able to gather from those words that I'm not speaking in an absolute.

What I wanted was what I wanted, I'll stand by what I want, so you can accuse me of backing off of my words all you want to, I'm clearly not doing so.

However, what I thought was fair value wasn't the return. All you're doing is acting like you've won something, when you haven't. I'll "keep digging my hole" while you go learn how to read.

This was a good trade...depending on what Gorton does next. With Lindberg and Stepan gone, that's a big hole to fill alongside reshaping the blue line.

Sure, and I'm not rooting for him to be anything but a problem for them, at the same time he's 21 years old. Maybe being closer to home will help. Like I said, the ?s almost all exist with the Rangers return. Arizona wins it today.

Wow!....Rangers better pray that Lundquist doesn't break down.....isn't he getting a little long in the tooth?.....do they have another NHL-ready goalie in the system or are they hitting the UFA market?

Surprised a rebuilding ream like the 'Yotes would give up on the seventh overall pick....might be saying something about the depth and quality of this draft.

Cool story, bro. Just double down away.

Or the depth and quality of their current under 25 players. Someone earlier in the thread posted it, and they have a lot of talent. It's kind of time for them to take the next step.

Intentional step back for the Rangers. And I like it. The core peaked three years ago. Time to rebuild it and looks like they are.

Yup, our top prospect is a goalie who is playing out of his mind in the KHL.

I'd just pop out here to appreciate how Arizona have just made themselves in to a playoff team with a great prospect pool in a few good trades.
