All he could get is a PTO... With the YOTES of all team?! You'd think the Yotes would've given league minimum at least with their questionable roster... But all he got is a PTO!

Never been a fan, but I still think he deserves better.

no way hes not in the nhl this year, might be a decent option to get himself a bit more money/team selection if he tears it up on the pto

I believe he lives in Scottsdale. And name another team where he could get 1LW and 1PP mins.

It’s Arizona ….. in a rebuilding year…… where they have traded a lot of their talent away for draft capital.

Ask yourself, on a league minimum or low contract ……. If he gets 1 st line opportunities and tears it up with a good stat line on a very week team this year!

What does he return in draft capital & the deadline?

He's a good player. Better than most guys who take a PTO. I have a feeling he wants to be in Arizona.

Gotta think he gets a contract out of this. He's a 20 goal threat in the right situation. Really.

Not much, I doubt any team would be fooled by that. A contender isn't going to trade a lot just because he has inflated production when they could probably sign him for 750k right now.

Now maybe, but come trade deadline with a couple of forwards injured and there might be more interest.

He was traded twice last season while making 1.05 million, once was for a cap dump, the other was for two AHL contracts. With a really strong year he might get a 4th, but I don't really see how he can have a strong year playing on a team so bereft of talent.

This is smart from Arizona, maybe he wanted too much after that solid Toronto stint so they try to negotiate a bit, that's why it's only PTO... But they sign him in the end and he might fetch something good at the dealine. His last trades aren't relevant now after what he showed as a Leaf.

The 1st time was a charm. He was really good despite playing 4th line 5v5 mins. Rick Tocchet didn't like him and only played him on the PP. I personally thought he deserved much better. It's been a long journey ever since for Galchenyuk, but his coaches in the Leafs organization were all highly complimentary about his dedication, work-ethic, and attitude. If he brings those to Arizona, he may find himself with all the 1st line and top PP minutes he could want. Could be a decent gamble on himself.

Personally, I think that was Rick Tocchet attempting to teach an offensively gifted player that one-dimensional play isn't acceptable, especially on a team void of linemates to take advantage of his skill. He might just have learned from it, and could be one of the reasons for the positive feedback from the Maple Leaf organization and fans.

One morning he woke up in Toronto aster failed stops in Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and Ottawa and then remembered Rick Tocchet’s wisdom?

Give him extremely sheltered offensive usage on a 2nd or 3rd line and a team will get value from him, especially on a cheap deal.

Hell still have a few back freaking brain farts though.

Liked him the first time on the Coyotes. He lives out here and is always skating at the local rinks. Even plays some roller in a local mens league I play in. Nice guy hope he makes the team.

He didn't play this smart... He could have signed with the leafs for 1 mil or 2 mil for 1 year... played with Tavares and Nylander, rack in the points and cash in next year.

Short sighted.

His days of getting 20 plus are long over. He couldn't do it in Pitt playing with elite players he didn't get it done int Toronto etc. Kid did work hard though and showed more flashes of skill but just can't put it together on a consistent basis. I agree he probably wants to stay in Arizona and gets a contract there .

Wow. I already figured he preferred it in Arizona. But a firsthand account like this really seals it.

He wants to play for the Coyotes. I hope it works.
