Some day we'll probably time stamp things in terms of Dubas.

22 AD - 22 Years after Dubas. Hopefully, we don't have any of his contracts still on the books then. The guy was god awful under no pressure. I can't imagine how he is going to f things up when he feels the leash tightening.

No, I’ve always believed this to be championship quality core. I’m just disappointed Dubas couldn’t get Marner signed to a lower cap hit and Matthews signed to longer term.

With this gong show I’m not convinced that even if they s**t the bed this year it means the end of boy wonder. That’s how much faith I have in ownership.

Seems more like they're a reflection of the play, and this place is basically built to discuss that.

The Leafs having a higher xGF doesn't mean they won the series, but it means they generated certain opportunities.

I expect we're all here to discuss the team, the successes, problems, assets and directions. These stats assist in doing so. Similar to goals, assists, wins, losses, etc.

Yes we are hear to discuss the team and stats like goals, assists, wins and losses are real stats because the actually happened. Stats like expected this and projected that are just things that losing teams discuss to soften the blow of loosing

Years from now when we're discussing this Covid-season, how are people going to remember it?

The year we had a 55% expected goal percentage at 5-on-5 using a WarOnIce calculation ?

Or will it be remembered as the year we blew a 3-1 series lead in the first round?

I'll go with the latter.

This is a lineup that would win me back and make me emotionally invested again But it's 100% not happening.

I am not concerned about bringing back the core. This year is the 1st year where the playoff failures lie squarely on the core more so Marner and to a lesser extend Matthews. Nylander was good and Tavares was injured

The past playoff failures had * next to them each year.

vs Caps - young team just happy to be in playoffs
vs Bos - took the better team to game 7 and will improve well that is what they said
vs Bos - babs fault for stubborn coaching
vs CBJ Babs fired and Keefe 1st playoff experience vs an experienced Torts
vs MTL - no more excuses it's on the core.

So this year will truly tell what this team is made of. If they haven't learned or figured how the sacrifices to playoff hockey and the willingness to compete then gotta look at the shakeup next off-season.

Isn't based on an algorithm that considers the location a shot was taken from as reported by different people in different arenas throughout the league?

It's based on what happened on the ice. It's a measure of opportunity generation and prevention.

So there's a committee that reviews every shot taken and and evaluates whether or not it should have been a goal?
