No.
Untill the boys prove their worth on the ice by winning (at least) a round, having the best roster of the past 5/6 years only means two things.
Jack and shit.

We're 2nd now ti Boston

I've gone from Tampa in 7 after the Jeannot deal to Leafs in 6

Second run if we win that we win the cup plain and simple for me

I'll go leafs in 7 but it'll be a bloody battle

i think biggest loser of these deals besides the western conference which have to play a juggernaut in the finals are the Canes

They are the 5th or 6th best contender now in the east

That the question is stupid when Boston is in the East.

Not upset at all.

Thanks for the newsflash Skippy.

When you look at Boston, it is a stupid thread. If he had asked if we are far better positioned to come out of the East than we were then yeah, decent thread. Asking if we are now the favourites is stupid.
what would be stupid is basically asking if we've improved like you wanted after adding 4 pieces including ROR while not giving up a roster player

and it seems something has triggered you since your going thread to thread insulting people

how about this , if this thread upsets you so much just put it on ignore

I would say the Bruins are, but at the same time, there goalies are not really playoff tested yet. Ullmark played 2 games last playoff and lost his spot to Swayman, who played 5 games. Now there team is waaaay better this season then last, but theres still questions there, and that would be the only one because the rest of their team is stacked.

At the same time, Sammy is 1-6 in his playoff career and seems somewhat mentally fragile and Murrays like a wild card because of injures.

Let's take it one round at a time.

I think we're favorites to beat Tampa right now. Boston is a whole different monster.

I've given up having expectations with the Leafs, they could even add Crosby to this team and my opinion wouldn't change which is:

"The team is good and can win the Cup but I am ready to be disappointed as early as Round 1 Game 7."

I mean it's great for fans I guess. But I don't like how 2 good teams in the East will be eliminated in the first round with these playoff formats. I feel like you go from such a climax in the first/second rounds then to a low in the finals because everyone is exhausted having already played a SCF-esque series in the earlier rounds lol.
I agree.. this playoff format is awful

There's going to be 5 fan bases with broken hearts, the top 6 in the East all have a legit chance at the cup. Gonna need to be good and gonna need some luck.
Perfectly said. This the right answer for all those 6 fan bases.

We've obviously improved but it came at gutting our next 3 drafts so the question is , are we now the favorite to come out of East and win the cup ?
We have probably improved the most and I think we can easily beat Tampa (Vasi is still Vasi though), but not sure if it's enough to get by Boston the way they've been playing and Ullmark at Vezina level this year.

NYR will be worrisome if they end up getting Kane too. They have a ton of great pieces as well.

You're the only one clearly triggered. Maybe get a hobby, instead of following the forum of a team you don't even like; as your lifelong journey? We get it, you veiled a post to smirk that the Leafs traded their futures in a division where Boston exists. You're not a clever troll.

as i said , my thread was just wanting to see where our fan base sees our team after the additions . only a few over top Dubie supporters seem to be taking it the wrong way and getting triggered because the poll is a landslide

i didn't have a poll until ACC mentioned i should put one up so there goes your conspiracy theory that this thread was designed to crap on your hero

and Boston isn't unbeatable regardless of the season there having , Tampa had a great year but still went out quickly if the first rd

Yeah, original post has a kind of negative slant towards the Leafs. Whether the team was "gutted" is irrelevant to what you're asking. If you were sincere, and I'm not 100% sure either way, you would have simply said "With the improvements we've made, are we now the favourites to win the East" would have been sufficient. Saying the moves gutted our next three drafts is putting a bias to your question. Statistics 101 would tell you if your question is valid and it's not unfortunately.

I wouldn’t say favourites due to the bruins season but the leafs can certainly beat them.

we've improved and imo Dubas added the right type of pieces but it came at a significant cost so basically as i said i just wanted to know if our fans look at us now as favorites or if not how close we are

we're all adults here so there's no need to sugar coat what we traded to improve and there's no need to be upset (not saying you are) that i used the term gutted because that's exactly what Dubas did to our next 3 drafts

and i'll just say again i added the poll after i put up the thread when another poster suggested i should , see page 1 for confirmation

The Leafs have more regulation losses on the road, than the Bruins have regulation losses anywhere, all season.

Yes - definitely favorites for the East....

WTF.

I think that a better question is whether the team is now a strong contender or one of the favorites to come out of the East. I would answer yes to this obviously. As it's posed now, the answer is obviously no.

Not only are arguably the best 5 teams in the league in the east, but 3 of the definite best 5 teams are in the Atlantic. It's going to be a f***ing blood bath, and realistically I can see any of 6 teams (Toronto, Boston, Tampa, New Jersey, Carolina, and New York), walk away from the east without being surprised at all. I like our team more than any other as I don't think there are any flaws left, but New Jersey & Boston also lack any real weaknesses.

Imagine being in the west this season? Dallas and Vegas are arguably on the same level, but besides that theres just a bunch of good teams with huge flaws. Any of the 6 teams would probably cakewalk to the WCF.

Curious to see what moves, if any Carolina makes. Historically they are not big deadline players (added Domi last year) were active in 2020 as well. They have lots of LTIR space to add and wouldn't need salary retention. Lots of space next year too so could acquire someone with term. sneaky landing spot for EK65

Nope, the odds makers have Boston and Carolina ahead of us. Odds for winning the cup, not what you asked, but you can extrapolate from the odds to win the cup who are considered the favorites to come out of the East.
