Kind of feel bad for the fanbase in the east who will start cursing the prices paid once their team is eliminated.

Tampa has won twice and could see that deal paying off, the Rangers dealt from a position of multiple 1st round picks and other assets and since Kane made it clear he wanted NY pretty much screwed the Hawks chances of getting anything back for him.

Problem is there is still only one team coming out of the East. The same number as the West and some teams are hurting their long term prospects to roll the dice on this year.

There's going to be 5 fan bases with broken hearts, the top 6 in the East all have a legit chance at the cup. Gonna need to be good and gonna need some luck.

I'd say Boston still ranks the highest which considering the amazing season they're having is fair. I don't think there's much of a gap anymore though.

If we had more certainty with our goaltending we might be.

look at that , i did it and didn't need my son to help , lol

John Gibson would really be our answer. With him in net I'd feel confident taking on any team in the east.

Unfortunately he has made it clear he doesn't want to play for the Leafs and neither do we have the cap for it

We aren't anything, until we prove we can win a round. In my opinion, this is the best collection of players on a Leafs team that I can recall. I think it's a better collection of players than other teams in the East have... but we don't know if they can truly become a team, or if they know how to win.

I mean it's great for fans I guess. But I don't like how 2 good teams in the East will be eliminated in the first round with these playoff formats. I feel like you go from such a climax in the first/second rounds then to a low in the finals because everyone is exhausted having already played a SCF-esque series in the earlier rounds lol.

what's your issue ?

That the question is stupid when Boston is in the East.

we've gutted our drafts for the next 3 years so why does asking our fan base where they think we stand in relation to the rest of the east/league upset you so much ?

Not upset at all.

i hope you realize the goal is the cup

Thanks for the newsflash Skippy.

it seems the Dube is strong in you if you get so easily triggered by someone starting a valid thread

When you look at Boston, it is a stupid thread. If he had asked if we are far better positioned to come out of the East than we were then yeah, decent thread. Asking if we are now the favourites is stupid.

I don't know if the Leafs are favoured but this is the most playoff ready team they have rostered since 2003/4.

As for the draft picks. I agree with what JBB said today. They like the Leafs are in win now. Anyone the draft is not helping for 3-5 years and hold no value to the team except for azquiring an asset that can help now and next year.

This is the first time Kyle and Shanny have gone ahead and pushed all in. Possibly to save their jobs, possibly they believe the core is different this year.

They are going for it and I applaud the moves. If it doesn't work out then come draft day they can recoup all the assets they traded out by aimply trading one of Matthews/Nylander or both and try to build around Marner with a different cast.

They have 4 solid (5 if you include Timmins) signed for very cheap next year, Knies will be in the mix.

Still hard to favour Toronto with how good Boston has looked bit impossible to tell as we have not seen this Leafs team play yet, and who knows what else happens in the next few days.
