Went 3-5, very hard schedule but if they keep playing well I think 5 win is very possible. Anything more and I'll be over the moon.

I doubt it. This is a tough lineup.

But I do think they'll be in a good position to get back there once it's done.

Over the previous two seasons, the road team has averaged about 1.05 pts per game, while Home teams have averaged 1.17. So we basically need 9.5 pts on this road trip to keep pace with that,

Anything over 500 is on pace to put us in the playoffs, 500 on the dot is fine, but means we might need to make it up later.

They have 8/9 at home in April. Perfect time if they need to make up games or get a hot streak going.

Hopefully Forsbger is only injured short term.

Merilinan could be good, could be bad, it’s a risk though

A long road trip like this away from the newborns could be good for Brady and Claude
Let's hope Giroux can catch up the step he is missing so far this season

Given his play this year and last, I'm not going to worry about a Forsberg injury. Not like he's given the team a chance to win most games and a game like last night they lose with him in net. Feels like worst case Leevi is bad, like Forsberg has been over the last season +.

Forsberg is a guaranteed L and doesn't help us in the future. At least Merilainen could be good, and if not, at least it may help him and the team for the future.

Who the f*** decided it was ok to have THREE back to backs on a 9 game road trip?

Sure there's a lot of time off between them but that's still hella tough on players(and forces us to play the backup goalie repeatedly). Yikes.

I was feeling positive and said 6 wins, but after taking a closer look at the schedule and the opponents, I'm thinking more like 4-5.

This may be selfish as a Senator fan, but not Ottawa resident, but I REALLY wish they were not hosting the WJC this year. God damn international disruptions screwing this team. Hope they're up for the task. Sometimes a road trip can galvanize a team, but it is a long one with tough matchups and too many back to backs guaranteeing we have to play a backup.

In terms of back to backs -

Edmonton plays 4pm the previous day.
Wild play in Dallas Friday, we play them Sunday
St Louis plays 4 days early in the Winter Classic on Dec 31st vs the Blackhawks.

At the very least given the even shorter rest times - you would think Edmonton and Detroit are guaranteed backup games (or the first game of the back to back is the backup game) given how Ullmark looked at the end of yesterday's game. But likely all 3 you need to trust Meriläinen can split with Ullmark. 22 year old goaltender. Chance for him to make a big statement and outside of Edmonton I don't really feel there's other-worldly talent on any of those teams.
