No. That’s the single stat you nit picked out of literally dozens of stats. Almost All of which (aside from saves) Florida was behind on.

Hits, physicality durr durr playing the right way lol right on impatient. Another weak point. Everyone bow down to the average wildcard team that is the Florida panthers. Or don’t.

Mmmm expected stats + expected deserve to win + the expected goal share + the high danger expected of the flukes expected = Leafs win in 6.

We get it...Leafs are just unlucky

the “average wild card team” that had won the president’s trophy the previous season. They then spent the start of last season learning a new system while missing big parts of the team to injury (one after the other, not all at once). Their opening night lineup was not repeated due to various injuries until after US Thanksgiving (maybe even later). From Jan 1 on they were among the best teams in the league. Made up 8 points in the standings to earn a playoff spot. You trying so hard to disparage them is funny.
But, but, but, the statistics! Blah blah blah...

Panthers are better than the Leafs

IMO, the simple fact that TML fans seem to care more about how many goals AM scores than about winning games answers the question ;)
No one does that

‘We want Florida!’

Still cracks me up.
The chants were originally "We Want Boston"... Florida then eliminated Boston... So naturally it switched to We Want Florida. All made by a bunch of drunk 19yr olds mind you

How is that so hard for you people to grasp lmao

Its like you people are purposefully dense. Getting worked up over simple logic

no, not as they sit.
Their play is still too messy,
need a D man and maybe a goalie if Woll isn't 100%
Keefe needs to learn to adapt.

If they can add a decent D man, Woll is 100%, Keefe reads coaching for dummies and they start to play clean, fast and crisp again they they have a shot.

This seems like one of those years where I can’t even be delusional and say it’s our year. Our defence and goaltending is the worse it’s been in the Matthews era. I don’t think a 1st round exit would be a choke(they might find a way tho). We just look like a filler playoff team this year at best.

Average team lmao. The Leafs are an average playoff team. Have been. You’re here talking like the Leafs were gods gift to the league, as if they should have steamrolled to the Cup. They are nothing but a few top line players, who don’t have the balls to do what it takes to lead their team to a Cup win. They’re weak both mentally and physically, and I expect them to fold like a Rooms To Go chair again, in the playoffs.

That series was over early on, which seems to be what every non-Panthers fan seems to think as well. But of course, we are all wrong because of stats stats stats.

Of course it was. Once Florida beat Boston, every Leafs fan felt the same way. Cut the bullshit.

I told you how Panthers were able to hold leads or come back from down a goal or two. Won 3 of 3 in TOR. Pushed them around physically. Among other things a team does.

You showed us the Leafs were "expected to win" because HDCF was +8 for the Leafs. Some of those stats showing FLA dominated though.
And then you talk about my feelings.
No you didn’t. You had a bunch of things you want to be true lol. You held leads because your goalie was a .943 and got caved on shots.

You’re hanging your hat on 1 hdcf stat, despite 80% of the stats favouring the leafs. But somehow toughness and hits etc. lmao. Another zinger from impatient such a compelling rebuttal.

Again, I never even said the leafs deserved to win. All I said was the Florida poster who said they essentially dominated the leafs (which is what you remember, because it’s what you WANT to remember), was wrong. Mmmkay.

I’m not at all. I thought the leafs played average at best that series. Your guys’ ego’s just hurt that I dared to say your beloved panthers weren’t as dominant as you think they are.

Even though Tavares has good stats, if they could replace his salary for dmen, especially a top pair guy who can play a lot of minutes, I'd be more confident in their chances.

I bet they squeeze one more year out and hope JT takes a massive discount. I wonder what his next deal will be

lol so we have to pick and choose which to cheer for? cant care about how many goals he scores and winning games? we have no control over what the team does and after 7 or 8 years of early playoff exits I dont think many of us other than the new kids coming in actually believe they will go all the way so really..... why cares?

Dont paint us all with the same brush. I was saying from the beginning this was going to be a tough series and I kinda wanted Boston more. wanted them to finally beat Boston and move through. kill two birds with one stone.

caps going up, I dont see why JT cant ask for something around 6-7.5m

I was of the same mindset. Slay the dragon and use the momentum. The fans also chanted we want Boston. Which is obviously forgotten about now.

Problem is his NMC. He probably wouldve been traded if not for that
Maybe. I doubt it though. Wouldn’t exactly set a good precedent in attracting free agents going forward. Not JT’s fault the leafs as a collective have taken multiple dumps in their pants in the playoffs.

JT is the type to take a hometown discount. He came to Toronto to fulfill his childhood dream. Isn't his wife a Dr in the city as well. Pretty strong pull when you don't just have a trophy wife willing to travel to whatever city you want to play in.

My bet is they work out a deal. Essentially a flip flip of Nylander and JT money. JT will be around 7ish.

In answer to the OP. Any team that makes the playoffs is a contender in my estimation. But, any team with goalies and defence like the Leafs aren't serious contenders.

Absolutely. The Leafs are 1 of probably 8-10 teams that have a shot. They aren't tier 1 like Vegas, Colorado, or Boston, but are in the next grouping with the Rangers, Oilers, Florida, and even Winnipeg / Vancouver. Strengths, they can score at will. Weaknesses, average defense, untested goaltender.

Yes he is, we know he is because he was here.

Hin and his groin which at this point is being held together by duct tape, bubble wrap and prayer.
You know the leafs aren’t the only team in the nhl and players can have good seasons after having poor ones? Reeks of main character syndrome…
