Are the Jets for real or are they going to crash and burn?

If they aren't for real what does for real look like.
It's been a pretty weak schedule so far. Dallas wasnthere toughest opponent so far and oettinger gave them Jets a pretty good head start

But none the less 14-1 to start the season, I'd take that. No to mention helleybuch looking like his bold self that's scary on its own.

lol, oettinger gave us a headstart... if it wasn't for their goalies and posts we could have reached 10... people just love to discredit anything on this forum...

Unfortunately what you do in October/November doesn't matter much. Vegas won 11 out of 12 games last year, ended up as the last WC team and lost in the first round. You could pull up these examples on and on. It's a long season and a lot can happen. You want the wins when they're there, but it can also be a bit of a curse later in the season.

Every year there's teams that just start better than others. Jets have a healthy team that was together last year and in terms of wins was one of the most consistent teams in the League. No B2B's and they've got into a good rhythm.

But yeah it's not the regular season wins that's the issue, issue is they haven't been able to handle an elite team playing their A game in the playoffs and you just can't find the answers for that at this point. Especially as I'd argue there hasn't been a single elite team so far that they've played that's been at the top of their game. The season's kind of been right in their alley so far.

They basically ran it back with the same team, so just like the Leafs in years past I wouldn't expect miracles in the playoffs. For me it's probably going to come down to what they can do at the TDL. If there's an opportunity to go big or go home, I think they got to take it this year.
Besides the fact that 90% of teams who are in the playoffs at thanksgiving make the playoffs

One week ago the argument was that the Jets have had an easy schedule, but the four game home stand was going to be against three good teams, and it will show whether the team is legit or not.
So the Jets go 4-0, out scoring their opponents 13-5, and now we have to see how they do on the upcoming road trip to tell if they’re legit or not.
Way to move the goalposts. It’s almost like you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Re: "weak schedule"

I remember reading that in the NHL, when two teams play each other, the team ahead in the standings only wins 56% of the time

Based on that, I'd need a mathematician to tell me that the chances of a team going 14-1 are

It wouldn't be far off from expecting to get "heads" to turn up 14 times if you flipped a coin 15 times

Jets beat the Avs… “injured team, backup goalie, regular season, deserve to win o meter” blah blah blah.
15 minutes later.
DALLAS IS THE REAL MEASURING STICK. healthy with a full roster they will probably roast the Jets”

4-1 to go 14-1 …

“Well Dallas was tired from the europe trip, and they won goals for and the Jets were bad in the playoffs last year so….”

lol.

since the start of last year the jets record is 67-25…in the regular season. so what’s more likely… the jets are a bad team who have a bunch of flukey wins? or, the jets on an 8 game win streak entering the playoffs had a bad week against a star studded team and lost ….

That goal differential is bonkers. +36 through 15 games.

Top 2 goal differential are the 1976-1977 Canadiens and 1970-1971 Bruins (+216 and +192 respectively).

Canadiens were 11-3-1 and +41 through 15 games. Bruins were 9-4-2 and +26 through 15.

Pretty good company to keep so far.

Best team in the NHL so far and they can't even draw more than 13,000 fans to their home crowd. This team should be selling out home games.

I've done some math in my day and the probability of winning 14 out of 15 games with .56 probability to win each game is .2%. In other words if you ran back this 15 game stretch 1000 times we would expect the jets to have this record 2 times out of 1000. Maybe they are "for real"?

Winnipeg
Aside from being a Jets fan and having a genuine hatred for Jesse Pollock, it'd mean so much to the city of Winnipeg to win a Stanley Cup. It's way better than the Packers winning the Superbowl. It might be just as special as Buffalo teams winning a championship.

I am old enough to remember those Canadian’s team and my where they ever the best but +216 is just insane.
