Are The Dallas Stars Underachieving?

They had better team than Oilers in my opinion and choked hard in Game 6, when they outplayed Edmonton handidly. This year with loss of Pavelski and Seguin I don't have Stars going far in the playoffs. Let's see if they add pieces at the deadline.
They were to damn slow. Dallas is a slow team that got eaten alive and exoosed in the playoffs. I never felt Dallas really ever threatened anything in that series.

Eaten alive and exposed in the playoffs for a team that has been 6 wins away from a Cup in back to back years is a funny take.

I honestly think they overachieved last year. Their young guys have regressed after having career years last year and their old guys are getting older.

Young guys having career years? I'm guessing you're talking about Johnston, but he's on pace to finish roughly around the same total after a slow start. He also had a slow start last year.

Maybe you're talking about Harley? He's on pace to finish a couple points below last season

Robertson? I don't really consider him a young guy, guess he could be. He's playing better now and is getting close to being a PPG

Stankoven? but he's in his second year, so obviously he had a career year last year lol

I personally don't see how they overachieved, I felt like they should have been in the finals, but ran out of gas against Edmonton. That Vegas series took a lot out of them imo

Went through the motions in the first half of the season. Best offensive player Robertson had a slow start after off season surgery, Pavelski retired, Lost Tanev, Seguin out for the season..Yet despite this are 4th in the league in points %.
Top 3 in NHL in Goals Against
Lead the league in Penalty Kill
9th in Goals for.

Have a low ranked power play although it's recently upticking and clearly has talent to upward trend and be a factor in any game.

Robertson is getting going too with 22 points in last 20 games. With Hintz on track to score close to 40 goals, top guys are clicking again.

They have a tremendous defensive game.

They need to add an impact forward and a strong/ physical defenseman, but have a cap room to do both.

If they can add that they might be able to get to another conference final, which looks to be the time Seguin could be back (if he does get back at all).

In an even conference, they will be there again, one of the teams fighting for a spot in the conference finals.

Take off your oil-smeared glasses brother!
The only one coping is you. If the Stars meet the Oilers again, it won't end too well for the Stars. Oilers were clearly the better team. More efficient and didn't even need 7 games to dispose them. I'm not sure about you, but when 2 teams play a 7 game series and one teams starting goaltender is Stuart Skinner and the other team has Oettinger.... yet still lose in 6. That should be enough to figure out, which team outside the crease was better lol

...ummm...Habs fan here, so no skin in the game, but I saw a much different Series last year...Dallas was the better team in 4 of those 6 games, imo...don't sleep on the Stars, especially since they'll have a boatload of cap space at the deadline...

Dallas is a scary team. They have a good mix of vets and young talent making contributions. Unlucky for them they likely get Colorado in R1 unless they can catch Winnipeg and/or Colorado doesn't steal the division.

Oilers were hanging on for dear life in game 6. Don’t kid yourself, that series could have gone either way. Dallas also went through a gauntlet in the first two rounds whereas Edmonton … not so much. But at no point did I think Edmonton was the better team lol.

Keep in mind I don’t agree with the other poster saying Dallas f***ed it up.

If they meet again, it will be another tight series that will go the distance.

Of course you did. You were cheering against the Oil, just like any other Canadian hockey city. All good. You'll be cheering against them this year for 4 rounds too😆

4 out of 6? That seems ridiculous to say. Edmonton were clearly the better team in G1, G4 and G5. You would obviously think a team facing elimination would come out stronger in G6. G3 was pretty even and in no way were they clearly better. Skinner let in some extremely soft goals after being up 2-0 to end the 1st.

- Lost Pavelski
- Key forwards underperforming
- Injury to one of the players on their best line
- Missing a top-4 D-man

They're not in any danger of missing the playoffs. As long as they add a D-man before the deadline they should be considered a strong contender.

We'll see if those forwards come alive in the playoffs.

...nope, I was actually cheering FOR Edmonton to bring the Cup back to Canada...defensive much??... 🤣
Good one. We believe you. Please by all means which FOUR games were the stars better in...

The Oilers outshot and outchanced the Stars in every game except game 6.

Closet haters man 😆
