Are team's going to try to copy Florida's style?

Isn't Florida's style just basically the past Hawks / Kings / Blues styles?

Uh... no

The Panthers don't have the rigid, 'right side of the puck' structure of the Kings, and they're way more aggressive on the forecheck and more physical than the Blackhawks.

Q would murder his entire defensive core if they pinched as aggressively and recklessly as the Panthers do. He also doesn't want his players slowing themselves down by delivering hits when the puck is already gone.

Feel like they just play straight playoff hockey. Play physical get to the dirty areas and shoot. Get great goaltending. That's how you win in the playoffs. Eventually get bullied if you can't handle that.

It's well established there are many ways/styles to win in the playoffs. The fact that the Panthers may or may not be Don Cherry's wet dream doesn't make them the holders of some magic playoff formula.

No but that is a formula that works and has for a long time. Playoffs are 100% different than regular season. Where other styles can shine maybe not as successful during the playoffs if you can't do the above at key times.

Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh were all the antithesis of the Panthers.

The only consistents among cup winners is elite talent and getting more shots and chances than the other guys.

I absolutely don't think they would have won with Uber Dough and weegar especially when they got swept in 1st round after winning the president's trophy. They had some good pieces but they were not good as they are now. I take Forsling and Tkachuk over weegar and Uber Dough any day of the week. Add in Bennett and it's not even close. I think one player they could have kept was Marchassault who was also a key player for Vegas winning the cup.
Florida was swept in the second round, not first. But you know what team won the President's Trophy and actually got 4-0 swept in the first round and then made finals 3 times in a row and won 2 cups?

Sometimes losing is a part of the process. I think they could have pulled off what Tampa did with Huby and Weegar. They were a great team already in 21-22 and their President's Trophy is a testament to it.

Weegar yes, Huberdeau no. Huberdeau was basically the antithesis of how the Panthers have played since.

Many roads lead to Rome. Nothing special in particular about FLA's style. Just a deep team with a great collection of skilled super competitive unselfish players. Their goalie doesn't get hot in the postseason we are not having this discussion. The GM and scouts deserve much credit as well.

They don't win because of the refs, but the refs not calling their headshots and general after the whistle f***ery sure helps.

They are the personification of "can't call them all"
This has always been a winning strategy in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

From the Broad Street Bullies to the Pronger led Ducks, now to the Florida Panthers, and so many others.

Yes it’s only a coincidence Hagel, Stolarz and Blake were all targeted in the noggin in back-to-back-to-back series. Just a whole lot of unfortunate accidents that somehow never befall other clubs.
Trouba alone in 2-3 years ago head shot more than 6 players with no punishment. How is this a Flordia only issue? Its that some players know the line in the rules of what's allowed and not. Yes there are absolutely some intentional head shots when they know it's not a penalty; it's a follow through north south hit or a extended little jab is all.

In fairness, everybody without a vested interest called out Trouba as a dirty headhunter.

I think it's fair to call Bennett out as a dirty player AND say that Florida would still be great without his dirty nonsense.

I don't even think the Stolarz hit was dirty, for the record. But I understand why people have stopped giving Bennett the benefit of the doubt.

You can't say they would win with Weegar and Huberdeau since they wouldn't have Tkatchuk, Forsling maybe even Bennett and others like Reinhart. They aren't interchangeable pieces and it would have affected Panthers not getting some of the key pieces that won the cup. If it was interchangeable, Flames would have made playoffs with Weegar and Huberdeau. You are changing the whole chemistry and makeup of the team and saying they would have won the cup in the same way as this iteration of Panthers. You can't predict how it would go.
