It’s still a tall hill to climb, gotta win those two games and Montreal still has a game to clinch vs Carolina
Have to be regulation wins too, either one won in OT or shootout gives Montreal the tiebreaker.

The way the habs are playing seems like they don't wan to be in the playoffs so its in Columbus hands to win the last 2 in regulation habs won't win against Carolina.

NHL chaos is good for the game. Columbus is darn close to cooked, but I'd much rather Winnipeg play Calgary than St. Louis, so I'm hoping St. Louis lays an egg and Calgary crosses the finish line before them.

Habs final game:
final home game vs Carolina
season series:
Feb 25: car 0 @ MTL 4
Mar 28: mtl 1 @ CAR 4

Jackets last two games
1. final road game vs Philadelphia
season series:
Dec 10: phi 5 @ CBJ 3
Dec 21: cbj 4 @ PHI 5 (OT)
Jan 14 : phi 2 @ CBJ 3 (SO)
This one might be harder to predict than I thought. That’s a close season series.

2. final home game vs NY Islanders
Oct 30: nyi 0 @ CBJ 2
Jan 20: cbj 1 @ NYI 3
Mar 24: cbj 4 @ NYI 3 (SO)
Jackets probably take this one.

Gotta say, the optics of failing to clinch at home vs the 2nd worst team in hockey look bad. Now Columbus has an even better chance, but they’re still the ones chasing.

Habs haven’t played well in either of their last 2 ops to clinch . I’d be curious to see what they could do in the playoffs as an upset possibility though . Also wouldn’t mind seeing more Demi.

Habs haven't played well in like 3 weeks , we had a 6 game winning streak , all games we we're outplayed in

From a neutral observer it looks like the Blue Jackets have a slightly better chance of winning their last 2 games than the Habs beating the Canes.

Not being able to close the deal against Chicago last night might’ve been Montreal’s death sentence.

habs must make the playoffs, demidov must have more exp

said it from the start, habs will clinch because isle will beat cbj on the final game

also said demidov would be here before SKA contract expire

also said demidov should pick 93

im always on spot

The thing is CBJ has to win both in regulation.

I think CBJ has a better chance of winning both than Habs even getting a point from the Canes.

But I give the Habs the edge in getting a point against the Canes than CBJ getting 2 regulation wins.

I don’t think the canes are going to take the game seriously at all

Habs aren't upsetting anyone if they make the playoffs.
Yawn, heard that one before. Once the playoffs starts, it's a new season. They would be playing with house money, no pressure if/once they make it.
There have been so many upsets in the NHL playoffs over the last 15 years by teams that supposedly had zero chances, it's hard to remember them all.
Not saying they would beat the Caps, but definitely not saying they have no chance.
Playoffs are unpredictable. Hey, maybe even the Senators will finally beat the Leafs in the playoffs.

Minnesota can clinch with a win in any fashion tonight. St. Louis I believe need a win in regulation only. If they win, but in OT or a SO they are sweating. In that case, Calgary could win both of their games in regulation and have the tie breaker (32 RWs to 31 for St. Louis). A point clinches it for Minnesota too, looks like it.

Minnesota can clinch by getting 1 point.

Calgary will probably win their last 2.
So really up to Wild and Blues at this point.

As an example

Golden Knights won't dress Alex Pietrangelo, Noah Hanifin, Jack Eichel or Mark Stone tonight against Calgary

Vegas is playing the long game... they want the Flames to win out in regulation, so we have a chance to steal WC and face them in round 1

Lies. Someone being upset is a guarantee.

If they make the playoffs and win a round, their opponents and their opponents fans will be upset.
If they make the playoffs and lose in round 1, their players and fans will be upset.
If they miss the layoffs, their players and fans will be upset.
