Yeah. I think Bratt is as good as gone.

Just logistically, at this point it makes no sense to not try to get to FAas soon as possible and see what he's worth on the open market.
If that's true, though, Fitz should've signed him to a 2-year-deal so he'll get to FA directly instead of one and sitting down with JOKE'im and Bratt to do this song-and-dance next offseason again.

He wants to be here. If the Devils get him to the number he wants, he will sign a long term extension.
And if that numbers any close to 9-10 he’s most likely walking especially when you have Luke(?)and nemec(? And maybe holtz to account for

How are we just going to forget nico when you keep comparing Bratt contract demands to nico contract

That’s like me saying forget bratt’s 5th year for a second

Do you believe it’s reasonable that a player who has averaged 32 points per season has earned 7.7 million to date ?
Averaged 32 points? What kind of nonsense is this? He's averaged .66 points game... basically the same as Nico's. .68 PPG.

My only concern is that Fitz and the Devils management don't value Bratt the way the fanbase and analytics community do. There's no doubt they like him as a player, but remember that he's been scratched and benched multiple times in the last season alone, and as recently as last offseason Fitz did not include him in his list of primary core players (Ty Smith was on his list hilariously).

I just wonder if the front office values Bratt enough to pay him foundational player money. I'm not sure they do.

Don't mistake my indifference for "coping". Dude was an RFA. He was going to get signed regardless. Now he's an RFA again in a year. Either he re-signs then or is traded. Fitz has been good at both extensions and trades. I'm not stressing.

Now it’s OK for YOU to spout ppg rates when you consistently shit on anyone who has said Hughes operated at a 1.14 ppg rate last year. Cmon that’s not how it works pal, pick a lane dude

He didn't do bad except for years. He believes in himself and expects to improve, and his improvement will drive next season's $$$ up. His agent did a good job for him if the long term goal is to max dollars. The gamble is not having a bad season.
And hopefully Patrick Allvin pays Jesper all the money the fans here think he deserves.

I mean realistically in what world are you going to be able to pay all of nico, jack,Hamilton, Bratt and potentially Hughes, nemec, mercer and holtz all at relatively the same time
Let's pump the brakes on Holtz, Mercer and Nemec. Especially Holtz. How about he scores one goal in the NHL before we start listing him with names like Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton.

What’s the appropriate number for Bratt to have earned to date? Or because Nico is overpaid, you’re proposing to have what? Overpay Bratt too?

They don't even factor in. Those guys are on ELCs and under team control for like 5 years before the Devils even have to remotely worry about it. At that point the cap is going to be way higher than it is now and you'll have a some big contracts off the books or coming off the books.

Insane to let a proven player walk for prospects who haven't done anything.

We can pump the brakes but it still needs to be recognized that if all goes accordingly those three will be in the middle/end of their elc as Bratt is looking to hit ufa. That doesn’t even factor in that this team may still need to find a certified goaltender and pay that goal tender actual money

Well then that shows how Fitz is right on some things but dead wrong on others.

And he was dead wrong (as it turned out) about Ty Smith.

Dude you seriously don't see a difference?

Jack has never played a full season in his career. Literally not once...61 is it and before that you have to add tournament play and Development team expo games to get him over that mark....we don't know if Jack can play a full NHL season

I thought we were forgetting Nico.

Over 10 for sure probably closer to to 12. His last deal was highway robbery.

I don't get how that makes sense. If he wants to hit UFA he can accept his QO after this season and walk to UFA the following year. The Devils will either lock him up long term after this season or he's going to get to UFA quickly. It's not going to be impacted by prospects' timelines.

And the goaltender thing isn't even a remote concern. There are about 3 goalies in the league that deserve big money and the Devils don't have them. They can develop their own guys internally at reasonable salaries.

W i l d.

But again, what you are theorizing Bratt should have made to this point on the back of his resume as of two years ago when he signed his last contract? I don’t know why you won’t just put a number on it since you’re so adamant he was robbed.

He was absolutely paid in line with with his track record. And Nico’s contract is completely irrelevant to Bratt’s future.

You're right, Jack Hughes never played a full season, he only played 56 games in 5 months in 2021, being one of two Devils to play in every game that year, despite the fact that the Devils didn't play for over 2 weeks and then played 47 games in 83 days. Imagine what he'd have to do with a rigorous schedule.

In this one. We have tons of space opening up next year and half of those guys will be on ELCs for a few years.

We’ve got the new one thing that is the only thing that matters. I can’t wait to see this discussed every 3-4 days and then ignored once it’s no longer valid.
