Awful how? Don't be a nerd and relay "underlying" numbers or other lame ass stats. Just watch the games. If anything he's been a top 3 d man on this team this season.
And he provides us with something barely anyone else in the league can do...but yeah, let's all pine for a soft d man with great underlying numbers. Nerd speak.

His underlying numbers are terrible though, why do you want to ignore that? He consistently gets caved defensively and doesn’t provide any offence.

I see a replacement level player who struggles to play defence (See his underlying stats) and doesn’t contribute almost anything offensively 5 points in 53 games.
No one has proven me other wise, fists don’t make you a good NHL player. Look at Matt Rempe.
