Once Edmundson/Matheson return and he goes back down to AHL, can't wait to see Xhekaj-Barron becomes a pairing and absolutely dominate offensively/defensively. I know people don't care too much about it but Xhekaj has some raw tools offensively and wouldn't surprise me if he can put up like 25-30 points in 50ish games in AHL this season.

Guhle/Harris hopefully continue to get 20-24 min/game in NHL.
Our guy Jackeye will be wildly popular with the fans as we move forward.............will be hard to send down, but more than likely the right thing............

Georges Laraque on the sick podcast had some pretty insightful thought on Xhekaj as a whole, and as a fighter. He mentioned that Arber is pretty much all offense no defense, which works when you catch someone off guard like he did with Kassian on the first punch, but that style might put him in trouble now that other players know who he is and what he brings. Fun listen.
Yeah, definately. Guys like Lucic and Reaves know how to defend, so he won't be able to throw them at will. On the Habs side, guys like Nilan, Roberge and Corson knew how to defend, so they never looked bad even against heavyweights. If he wants to last, he has to pick his fights and also learn how to defend himself and not use his face to block like Kordic did.

I remember many smug Canadiens fans saying the same thing about Pierre Bouchard. Then he met Stan Jonathan. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Everyone can be beaten. Its not that Xhekaj is unbeatable, but its his growing menacing aura. Opposing players will regard playing the Canadiens differently. Xhekaj is a deterrent. He will allow his teammates to play more confidently. He's buying time and space for not only himself, but the whole team. But auras are like bubbles. One lost fight, one Jonathan / Bouchard style debacle, and poof, the legend of the Costco Comet will be undermined.

I was saying the same thing during rookie camp. In any fighting arena, you'll always meet your match. Everyone thought Tyson was unbeatable until Buster Douglas knocked him out. Then, when people start believing you're human and can be beaten, more and more will beat you if you don't evolve your style/technique. Exemples are numerous in every fighting sport.

I love Xhekaj and his strength is undeniable. He'll need to learn to protect himself as well as dishing it out, else a heavyweight can knock him out. All it takes is one punch. Everyone eventually loses a fight. The difference will be how devasting the loss is.

I hope you're not serious.lol. Arber trying to make brownie points? Neither were on the team that they are on now. You hold a grudge don't you.lol

Me ? lol I’m not on the team, I don’t hold grudges but you’re naive if you think players don’t remember these kind of things especially when it was unanswered last time around.
Only player still with Habs that was on the ice when that happened is Hoffman.

You brought it up. Hoffman ain't scrapping with nobody especialy Kassian, and no one should expect him to do so. Not sure why you keep bring up last season,it's done with. Not the healthiest thing to do with carrying a vendetta, things should have been settled then, not now. For fun, maybe Hoffman can swing by Kassians home and shoot out his porch light, just a thought.lol.

It's not about holding a grudge. An opportunity presented itself for X to scrap, so he took it. The fact that there is bad blood from last year with Kassian is just a cherry on top. Fighting is a part of Arber's game.

It had nothjing to do with playing in the present,so therefore it's a grudge imo.

I kind of miss Sbah and his posts especially when it comes to young players. I wonder what he would say about Xhekaj? His posts, especially those where he reminisced about hab greats of old often gave me goosebumps. He had to be the most loyal habs fan ever to post on this board. He is truly missed.

He looks promising and fills a need but it was ONE NHL fight. Lol.

Just pepper your posts with 5 dozen animated emojis and that’ll bring back Sbah in spirit.

I hope someone writes a post like this about me when I am stabbed by a Leafs fan over something I said on the main board

I'm certainly a fan of Xhekaj and his physical game. I'm not sure I see Top-4 potential in him, but I do see how he could potentially fit in on a contending team as a regular bottom pairing defender if his fundamentals continue to improve and his game rounds out some more. I'll happily eat crow if he's able to take top-4 minutes on a contending Habs team in the future.

It's no secret that Xhekaj is rapidly becoming one of my favorite players.

At the game last night, the two loudest moments were the Xhekaj v. Kassian fight and the Slafkovsky fight. The fight was louder than the other five goals, and if Slafkovsky hadn't been the goal scorer, the loudest moment of the night when have been the fight.

Says a lot. Everyone was on their feet and cheering it on. The league wants fighting gone but the crowd still loves it.

still not jealous.

well done Montreal.

the entire family went to the school my brother teaches at. Some of the teachers who taught the three kids said they were amazing kids, polite, and well behaved. Both brothers and the sister.

He's doing Hamilton SO PROUD.

And his younger brother is playing well on the Bulldogs.

Well done Arber Xhekaj. Keep it up.

My brother shared video of the fight last night with Arber's grade 3 teacher who is reaching retirement...

response?

"not my sweet little Arber"

what a beauty he is!
