Player Discussion Arber Xhekaj: The Sheriff

The nuetering process is near complete. We now will have another useless dman to fit the team creampuffness vision. Good times.
lol, I posted in the past that people who know Arber personally, know he has a very short fuse. Not sure how he worked at Costco, maybe not in customer service.
That's his challenge as he matures, to be able to harness that meanness and aggression and not let it spill over the edge. He gets to learn when to pick his spots - hits, fights etc..
Lucic is an excellent example for him, though not his personal life

The way this season went for him, i think becoming RFA he'll wait to see if there is other teams offer before signing here

He's had a rough season at the NHL, but what you saw at the AHL had a lot of positives, and it's not uncommon for players to have a sophomore slump. I doubt Gorton/Hughes are in a rush to move this kind of player, so hopefully the off season he continues to work on his game and comes back next season as a better version of last years player.

Crazy that in the 17 games he played in the NHL before being sent down that he was a +1. I am not saying he was stellar but it wasn't as bad as some say.
He does need to work on not taking inopportune unnecessary penalties which is part of his development.
It is wise for management not to give up on this player too soon.

It's not just about taking three penalties, it's about taking bad penalties.

The guy is a monster. He could simply play hard and finish his checks, clean up the front of the net, and throw his weight during scrimmage.

Right now, punching a guy out of the blue on the sideline or crosschecking someone when there is no play around him, that's totally useless. Its not scaring anyone. If he keeps doing that, other teams will deliberately provoke him into taking these stupid penalties. It will become part of the gameplan.

You can play hard and be smart about it, and force the other teams to go after you. Let them retaliate and take the penalties.
It’s all part of the learning curve. He’ll get there.

Castration of a Bull never a good idea, might as well trade him
They like him for his toughness. I think that's crystal clear. They don't like him for the lazy and useless penalties. The momentum killers. I think that too is also crystal clear. I think he's getting the message.

Robinson was as tough as they come and a true heavyweight fighter. But he knew how to intimidate without having to drop the gloves all the time, and how to be a nightmare physically, but without taking bad penalties.

So what they're doing with him is IMO the absolutely right thing. And will make him a better and more effective Bull. I still don't think he's going anywhere and that there will be a MTL Signs Arber Xhekaj thread in the near future. JMO.

This drama and hysteria is giving me Hossa’s gloves and darkest day in Habs history vibes. Some people just love it I guess?

:scared::scared::scared:

I remember that thread, the team never recovered, nor did the fans. Darkest day ever :(

Right, we haven’t been the same since.

Nobody recalls how before that day you were more positive and jovial than @sbah.

But the darkest days in Habs history turned you into the poster we are familiar with today.

I’ve changed my username more than once since to try to forget it myself.

No they won’t … they know exactly what they’re doing. HuGo are not blind to the fact they can use all the size they can get especially one that is mobile like Xhekaj. They’re simply trying to get him to focus on being more aware to avoid needless penalties & improving D positioning / anticipation

People clamor for development… well this is development process 101

As for
Who f***in care about mistakes
Well if an org ignores it u get Buf, Sens etc. It easy allow bad habits to permanently ingrain themselves, pro-active nipping in the bud is what real development is

The jury is out on whether Hughes knows what he is doing.
No matter which way this organization goes they never seem to be competent enough longterm.

Don't reply in your usual condescending tone.

Sure thing, Arber. You have been reassured.

However, MSL never said when that next game would be or that it might even be in Laval.

To be fair, we don’t know what else MSL told Xhekaj — he could have even conceivably told him he wouldn’t be played tonight.
