Xhekaj doing the right thing. Go to Laval and show you’re to good for this league.

The kid is handling being sent down the right way
He is not showing that, at least not from my viewings. He's been at an all-time worse defensively.

Of course, thats still better than Matheson and Kovacevic.

It definitely isn't but it's great he's willing to work on it. He'll be back, we just need some patience.
Man I thought Xhekaj had his best game defensively as a Hab when we beat Boston mid November.
He did everything very well that game.
He won his board battles kept his feet didn't chase and even got in Marchand's head a bit.
I was sure he was turning a corner. It was all downhill from there.
He's never going to win the Norris but like a number of our D he's so much better when he keeps his game simple.
It's looks like he's starting to get his balance right in terms of when to push and when to defend.

I miss him too but a bit of a slow-down breather from his rags-to-stardom probably won’t hurt. He’s getting minutes and pp time from what I can tell. Good idea to not break his knuckles on helmets or ahl goon faces, nothing to prove there. His only fight so far was a retaliation against him for toppling a little guy unless I’m wrong and it broke up pretty fast. He’s unique so he’ll be back up.

Oh I've got no problem at all where he is right now. He's having fun our lads all grew an inch collectively and he's taking advantage of what got him drafted in the first place. It's no surprise to me that Walker lost it on Simoneau instead of trying Xhekaj. What a p***y.

There's no issue with the current situation.

Xhekaj is presumably learning things in the AHL, he's also helping the other prospects around him. He has a budding bromance with Mailloux.

Meanwhile on the Habs, HuGo and opposing scouts are getting more opportunities to evaluate the D that won't be with the Habs' long term.
Smart thinking here. I was upset and didn't understand the reasoning behind sending him to Laval but now I get it. They know what they have with Arber and he is in the long-term plans of the organization. They sent him down to a team that he is too good for but did it as a means of expanding his game rather than diminishing it. He is playing a solid game there and will come back once moves are made by the habs to make room. They like what they have in Arber Xhekaj, hence the reason they drafted his brother.

They want to do everything they can to turn him into a top 2 D, the skating coupled with his physicality is just too tantalizing to not try to maximize. Who knows what the ceiling is though.

I believe marty doesn't like him, something isn't adding up.

Like the burritos I had earlier this evening. He'll be back shortly, with a vengance.

I just want him back on the team............I know they are playing the long game, with a plan, but there are very few guys on the team I enjoy watching, but The Sherriff is one for sure!!

Last year I went on line to buy my granddaughter a Xhekaj jersey, all sold out, had to settle for a Slaf jersey. Nothing against Slaf but you can tell how much the fans appreciate #72

I'm sure they talked to him before sending him down and have a plan for his return, I have to believe that. He brings so many things to a team that are rare in today's game, he will be back.
