It's because she doesn't provide the answer in her question and allow them to start their reply with "yeah, for sure". To my mind, it's a better question when you make the respondent think, but I'm sure the players would rather go about the interview mindlessly.
I know we've bagged on Maniscalco for this, but I'm amazed how frequently I hear the same thing on podcasts and such. Just ask a damn question and let the person we're interested in think about it and answer it.

Its by no means just him. Leading questions is absolutely plaguing media right now, with interviewers goading the response they want while asking the question so they can turn mundane statements to fit whatever agenda they are looking to create that day.

Which is why I really like how Civ covers the team. She has no agenda. She covers it like a fan, but with enough hockey knowledge and enough connections to lean on to make it incredibly interesting. I know not everyone here is on board with it, but I find it very refreshing that her articles aren't usually chock full of hockey cliche's and sometimes delve into a very odd side note about the team or about a player.

I don't know about that... way too often the the interview has been scripted by the interviewer and the player's role is to give the obvious answers the interviewer has half already put in his mouth. I would say they appreciate the actual actorship as an interviewee for its rarity alone.

For non-English as first speakers obviously any interview is a task, but they too have been giving hockey interviews for a long time in their own language and know what it most often can be.

So go create one.

Or as they say in the neighborhood, "f*** around and find out".
please don't.

I want to get to the end of the season with the standings like this with everyone scratching their heads wondering how the almighty powerful Bolts didn't run away with this division. I like flying under the radar. It makes the whining like we saw about 5v5 on the Florida board that much more tasty when we wipe the ice with someone who didn't see it coming.

Being first overall during the regular season is nice, if you're a Euro football club.

I suppose they do give out a fancy trophy for it over here, but it's not the trophy I care about.
Home ice advantage in PNC Arena is worth a hell of a lot to the Canes come playoff time. Hell, given our record in the regular season, home ice in that building means a heck of a lot even if the fans aren't there.

First is impressive but doesn’t mean what it normally would. We have no context since we don’t play the rest of the league. Four separate worlds and without playing any of them it’s hard to say we’re better than any of the others. We can suspect we’d do well but it’s all speculation.

On the plus side we’ve done pretty well against the other two good teams so people can’t say we’re merely beating up the bottom feeders in our division.

Bragging like we’re actually the best team in the NHL wouldn’t feel quite right this year.

Don't disagree with any of this, but it's still nice to see us at the top of the list. :)

BRAGGING ABOUT FIRST PLACE DURING REGULAR SEASON IS NOTHING BUT A PURE TEMPTATION OF FATE. ESPECIALLY EVER SINCE TAMPA GOT C-BUSSED TO DEATH.

Nah. We're the #1 team in the league and everyone else can shove it.
