Jarnkrok Matthews Nylander
Knies ROR Marner
Acciari JT Kerfoot
NAR Kampf WayneTrain

Let Marner and Nylander take turns taking shifts on the 4th line until it’s time to let the train go off the tracks
Exactly. Like Tie Domi's days. Put Wayne out just to skate past the Lightning bench a couple times. "You touch Marner or Matthews and I'll destroy Kucherov".

Yeah, it's still a man's game. Many of us have been explaining this here for years and got roasted by the keyboard warriors. Hey... capeche now?

Yep, as Leafs coach I would dress Simmonds. His only mission would be to BEAT THE PISS out of Stamkos. Stamkos had NO BUSINESS forcing Matthews to fight him.

The Refs were incompetent in NOT assessing a penalty to Stamkos for instigating. At minimum, our Leafs should have had a 5 on 3 on that Rielly/Point incident!!!
Let's see:

Stamkos certainly won't fight Simmonds (even assuming Simmonds could catch him), so he'd just turtle.

Simmonds gets 2 for instigating, 5 for fighting, and probably a game misconduct.

After we successfully kill off 7 minutes of their PP, we're shorthanded the rest of the game, so we can double shift our better players (although we can anyway).

And of course there's no chance that someone like Maroon would decide to retaliate by mugging Marner.

All in all, an excellent plan.

I would hate to see Simmonds get knocked out by Jeannot.

It would be a cruel thing to witness.

If Schenn handled him I'm sure Simmonds would as well. Besides, it's a moot point as the kid's hand is probably broken anyway :

Another factor ROR brings, as well as Schenn. Championship pedigree, they've been there and gotten it done. There's a different culture with this team now. Last game we had every single reason to lose and just roll over. Even though Tampa dominated the entire OT, they stuck with it and competed hard. Got outplayed but didn't stop competing.

The new voices in the locker room are huge and I'm expecting the team to come out prepared this game.
Yup I couldn't agree more.

I will say, I am a bit puzzled with the optional skate attendance sheet today.

I understand that this is the playoffs and I don't question our big dogs desire to win. But the fact that not even one of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, JT, or Mo was on the ice this morning is not OK in my mind. I am going to give Willy a pass on this one, because he is usually always a participant in these skates, so he likely has a very valid reasoning. But I am just not sure I understand the rest of them. Mitch, Auston, and Mo very rarely attend optional skates and I just wonder what type of message that sends to the rest of the group. Especially in a very critical game like today.

maybe I am reading too much into this, but playoffs are about doing that little bit extra, and that doesn't just include the 60+ minutes when the games are being played. The leaders not showing up sends a clear directive to the rest of the boys that its OK to not show up.

We will see tonight I guess. All I know is I will be pissed if they lose, and they hold another optional ahead of game 5 and all of them attend. As in, they are only willing to attend when optically it would look bad if they didn't

He's not fighting Stamkos... He would play 5 or 6 minutes, allowing our best players to do their thing without looking over their shoulders. We got outplayed badly in game 3 so it's not like we are coming off the game 2 ass kicking..

Lol, you can threaten players by name like that and not get a misconduct?
thats hockey. nothing wrong with any form of threat TBH. There is a line, but that essentially starts and ends with family. Everything else is a go in my mind. It's nothing personal, it's just the game within the game

Jeanott telling luke we are going again lol. Why didnt he. He cant fight if you saw his hand he cant fight with a hand like that so he is of no consequence

Hedman is their best dman but did you notice he wasnt on the ice protecting a lead with a minute to go. He is hurting bad. Leafs should finish every check on him and make him pay

They should fight Jeannot every game. The way Luke’s helmet battered his hand in Game 2 is going to put that good wear and tear on him and impact his ability to make plays downgrading him to pure goon status when TBay was budgeting for a power forward.

Hedman needs to be buckled on every puck retrieval. Soft dumps, hard dumps all funneled into his corner and then a pasting. Can’t let him participate in the transition game cleanly and can’t let him QB their special teams without feeling the cumulative weight of 18 guys on him.

I think you can make that argument about optional skates in the regular season, but once you get to this part of the season it really doesnt make a difference in my opinion. It's more important to rest if you need it!

Jeannot is like twice his size, he'd eat Simmonds alive
Honestly I'd rather no one fight Jeannot - the guy has been useless 5v5...keep him op the ice.

You are reading too much into it. Those guys play big minutes and get the most attention every night.

Yup, Tampa is doing their best to use him to target Schenn. Jeannot is useless for them, but if he can take Schenn off for 5+ minutes its a win. He doesn't provide anything really to the team, he's just a body. Him and Maroon both know they are complete non-factors, best way to be relevant ? Take off one of the other teams important players.

Schenn has been bullying these guys all series, I bet they'll throw several dirty shots trying to sucker him into a fight. Kinda hope Schenn is smart to avoid fighting a plug, but if they cross the line, just bury him one time so he shuts up for good.

Can you be more specific. I don't see this option.
For me on my phone right now it’s an option scrolling down to the bottom of a page. Right above “resources” and the HF logo, there’s a drop-down that shows your current viewing setting that can be changed.

I think it's obvious he was winded. And if you've ever been winded, you literally feel like you're dying.
It does feel horrible.... the first time.

After that if you are smart you know you aren't dyeing and you just wait a minute for it to pass.

If we win this round, I will get a Schenn jersey.

Kadri was fined for a throat slash gesture back in his Leaf days. So you can say it, but you can't mime it.

Edit: Lol I forgot it was directed at Gio........

What do you think optional skates do?

I think you can make that argument about optional skates in the regular season, but once you get to this part of the season it really doesnt make a difference in my opinion. It's more important to rest if you need it!
Rest is definitely a weapon. No question about it. Also superstitions are real, and although we all know they make zero impact on the outcome of the game, they can make a player feel more prepared/confident for what ever reason. SO that may also be a factor.

I just don't think the optics of this look great IMO. Guys go to battle for one another. It's shitty to come away from a game where you know you've done everything you possibly can to prepare for the game and the boys who should be steering the ship appear not to be.

Again, I am fully aware that I could be reading too much into this. I genuinely hope I am wrong. But to me, I believe the exact opposite from you. This is acceptable behavior in the regular season, not post season. But that's just my opinion. Also it is an opinion formulated purely on the attendance sheet, and no additional context to why there were some on the ice and others not.
