No substituting at atart of a PK?

First overall chooses it's first round opponent fir the playoffs?

A SHG negates the PK?

3-2-1 point system?

Golden Plan Draft format (first oick gies to team with most points after being mathematically eliminated)?

I'm fine with SHG negating a PP. It will encourage riskier behavior, leading to more exciting hockey.
Let's say the average team has a 20% pp conversion rate, so each pp is "worth" .2 goals. If you get the jailbreak right at the start of the pk that .2 goals you "prevent" is still worth so much less than the actual shorthanded goal you score. More likely you get it halfway through when the pp is only worth .1 goal.

It makes shorthanded goals around 10% more valuable. I don't see how that changes behavior significantly at all.

I think the PWHL has proven with all of these that they're gimmicks that don't feel exciting or really change outcomes at all

No substituting at atart of a PK? NO, I don't like this at all.

First overall chooses its first round opponent for the playoffs? Could be neat, but I'd prefer the NHL just went back to 1-8 seeding.

A SHG negates the PK? NO. Just make it so the shorthanded team can't ice the puck without the face-off going back to their end.

3-2-1 point system? YES.

Golden Plan Draft format (first oick gies to team with most points after being mathematically eliminated)? This would discourage deadline moves, so I don't like it.
My responses above. I appreciate that the PWHL is trying out some interesting ideas that the NHL could benefit from. Some of them will inevitably be stupid, but others would be kind of cool.

You're talking about humans. Most people aren't that technical in their thought process. Even with the onslaught of statistical information I still hear and see comments, arguments etc that amount to nothing more than gut instinct or some kind of vague feeling. Broadcasters still show FOW% even though it's been demonstrated to have no correlation to winning.

Outcomes is a stat: refer to previous statement.

How about a two minute delay of game penalty whenever a goalie or skater knocks their own net off the moorings without involvement from any opposition player? Like when Pietrangelo dives to stop a breakaway and crashes into the net rendering the chance to score on a rebound moot. Or when goalies accidentally on purpose push off the net too hard to stop the play - a Dwayne Roloson special, if you will.

I even mentioned the other night that Peteangelo should have gotten a delay if game penalty when he ran into Hill, regardless if whether it was intentionally or not.

That's one of those kinds of rules- like the puck over the glass- that if you want ot to stop, you have to lump the unintentional in with the intentional

Point system, sh goal negating the pp and draft format.

The nhl needs to stop incentivizing losing.

I know it’s rich coming from an oiler fan but teams need to win as many games possible. It just makes for a better product overall than having 2-4 a year ranking and trading everyone remotely good.

I've often wondered how it would go if the NHL trade deadline was moved up to say the halfway point of the season or sooner.

I feel like having the PWHL draft system would encourage more offseason moves and better team building and help prevent LTIR trickery.
Very true. Didn't think of that.

Teams would need to stay as competitive as possible if they want to have first pick

It'd be rather funny if the good teams started trading some of their spare parts to the bottom feeders so the bottom feeders end up with a better chance of getting a high a pick as possible

Meant to ask:
Are you a fan of the Stavanger Oilers who is from Norway or an Oilers fan of Norwegian descent?

Ok I will only use my gut instincts and feelings. The gold draft, 3-2-1 point system, and "choose your own opponent" playoffs have not driven any intriguing storylines for the PWHL at all.

The “choose your opponent” makes me not want my team to ever finish 1st. Nobody wants to be the one to end up with an egg ln their face or give another team bulletin board material.
