Maybe with the cap going up. Still don't want him at all. He's going to get even slower than his already molasses speed.5-6m x 3yrs is fine.
I also prefer not to keep him just to clean slate the culture, but I would take him on $4.5M x 3 final offer with the understanding that he shifts to the wing by Year 2.Maybe with the cap going up. Still don't want him at all. He's going to get even slower than his already molasses speed.

I will always maintain JT is a good dude (albeit somewhat roboticWell JT kept his end, he never got worse than he was in New York/ we just overpaid because we got him for free
He's never been a good Skater, but the past 2 Seasons, his speed has fallen off a Cliff. Hands don't look far behind.
I want him to leave, but with our lack of Centre depth, we will probably give him a 3 year deal unfortunately.
If he stays (more than likely) he needs to switch to the Wing, but in doing that we lose our best FO man.
Nightmare fuel to think what Treliving is gonna have to deal with this Summer.
Time to move on from JT. He had a good year, although he was bad against Florida. This is another player with simply too much scar tissue to justify bringing back. Thanks for the memories and good luck elsewhere.
Even then, I disagree. You have to move on from the emotionally damaged players on this team. The only way you keep JT is if he agrees to take league min $850K, which obviously isn't going to happen. Just move on. It's cruel and unusual punishment to keep these guys together for their yearly humiliation ritual in front of the entire sporting world. Enough already. The only way you bring him back is at 2yrs at 5m per as 3C. This is all I have come to count on him for him the playoffs.

Get a couple Dawgs please.
JT is two years younger than Max Pacioretty. So whatever you think he's worth on July 1, project that to a Pacioretty level player and ask yourself if you're doing the right thing.
2.5 Rob. Not a penny more. A true discount to offset the massive overpay.Judging by his post game comments, JT wants to stay. Hopefully he comes back on a 5 to 6 million dollar deal to free up some space to do other work.
Very true. Though the problem is the team is going to need two top 9 centres, ideally one of them a top 6 quality.
A alternative limited supply may keep him around unless the front office has some tricks up their sleeve
Are we sure he's still a C? He's basically a winger who's good at faceoffs. Horrible in his own zone and doesn't have the speed to do anything offensively in the playoffs
4m or less, I say keep
