Only girls call it "pop". It sounds so stupid.
?
I've never called it anything else.

Also, I'm in my mid 30s and damn straight it's the Jewel's

And JC Penney is Penney's

For those of you old enough to remember, Montgomery Ward was always Ward's

And I don't know why people type it as "Jewels" instead of Jewel's because the who reason why the s was added is because it was possessive, like Jewel's place. It's the place that belongs to Jewel. that is the whole point.

I've never in my life heard somebody shorten JC Penney. If somebody said I'm going to Penny's I'd assume that's a local restaurant.

I don't know why people type Jewels because I don't know why people say Jewels.

I used to work at Jewel.

Once you leave Chicago one realizes how silly it sounds calling it pop.
Yea i mean much better to call everything coke like the people in texas....and pop makes a lot more sense than soda since soda can refer to a specific beverage. But hey, who doesnt like to be vague when they talk?

I was joking around. I've always found "pop" silly. We really never called it that in my family.
Found another imposter!

What specific beverage?

Um soda water/club soda. When you order a vodka soda do they ask you what kind? You realize its okay to admit that not everything is better outside of where you're from, right?
Soda is soda. Club soda is club soda. Never in the history of the universe has anyone been confused about this like you’re intimating.

When you order a drink at a bar with soda, how often fo they ask you to specify? Not often? Then why did you have to ask what soda referred to? In no world does calling the category of beverage "pop" have any less validity than "soda" unless you're a very insecure individual.

I hear it’s chaos in Chicago as confused bartenders don’t know how to make a scotch and soda without being told not to use Pepsi.

Its okay man, take the L. Can't be the first time your pompous attitude has blown up in your face
Okay, man. If you find soda to be too confusing of a term for you and you consider that a W in your life, I’ll let you have it because that’s actually kind of sad.

Never said that, but keep going. Sorry some coastdweller bullied you over the word pop and you were too weak to stand up for yourself.

Don’t backtrack, it’s exactly what you said. “Soda’s too vague, can mean different things, what if you order a vodka/soda?”. If calling it pop removes that confusion from your life, that’s great. No one else in the world has this issue, but as they say, it takes all kinds.

What a stupid argument, anyway. Neither pop nor soda is wrong. It's the rednecks that call it "coke", even when it's not a Coca Cola, that we should be making fun of.
Coca cola
Pepsi cola
RC cola
7Up cola ??

So maybe the more accurate generic term to reference these drinks is 'cola' (a carbonated soft drink, etc). But I don't know anybody who says they're going to the store to get some 'cola'.
