How could it not be? The conversation was civil, but rules are rules.

Because we weren't taking it down political lines or discussing it in relation to liberals or conservatives, etc. I get it, though. I could see how you guys wouldn't want to babysit the thread for a week. Just thought it was actually a good conversation.

You can not really be a fan of someone's music but still respect them.

I only liked a couple of Petty songs, but the guy had more talent than a buttload of so-called artists that got more popular than he ever did...

good point and on the flip-side, you can respect and enjoy someone's muz and not the individual.

for me, here is a perfect example. Myles Davis, hate him for what he is and represent but i got to admit his muz is great. Chuck Berry is in that same definitions.

In much, much, much lighter news, finally got a Switch and Breath of the Wild. One evening in, and gotta admit that I'm loving the game so far as am pretty impressed with the overall user friendliness of the system. Playing with the Switch as a handheld is a tad uncomfortable after a while, so think that I'd probably have it be mobile with a pro controller if I took it around with me. As for the game, the weapon degradation was annoying at first, but has actually grown on me a bit. Kind of adds to the decayed world motif.

Definitely see myself sinking a lot of time into this going forward.

Been playing it with a buddy who bought it. The weapon degradation drives me absolute crazy. I think it happens way too fast.

No reason Link should have to carry 10 swords and 10 bows for dungeons n stuff. It's ridiculous, IMO.

You lucky Shogun! Breath of the Wild isn't really my cup of tea, but the Switch is a beautiful device.

As a hardcore gamer, I'm a little hurt that I won't be playing Mario Odyssey later this month. Looks all sorts of amazing.

Yeah, it can be annoying so far, but with how common weapon drop is in that game it really doesn't amount to much other than busy work, which in an open world game I'm not going to complain about.... yet.

But love the aesthetic and the feeling of the game so far, and the combat is mostly solid, though I'm not used to the bow and arrow yet.

And Zelda's probably my favorite series of all time. Link to the Past is in my top five favorite games, Link Between Worlds is my favorite handheld other than maybe the iPad version of FTL, and it's essentially always Zelda that gets me pumped for Nintendo consoles.

Yup, been playing Zelda games a long time. Probably my favorite game series of all time, as well.

Like you, I think the game is great overall. The puzzles are cool, fun to figure out. The aesthetic and feel is great, as you said. Combat is a little wonky with the bow and arrow. Definitely takes some time to get used to, like you said.

Overall, I like the game a lot. It's too bad my buddy who has it moved from 5 mins away from me to Roscoe Village on the north side...

Still love the original the most, honestly.

I love the time of year we're starting to get into. For one, the fishing is great. Then, being able to open up all the windows and sleep with cool, fresh air coming into the house... I can get 4 or 5 hours of sleep and still feel refreshed. Throw in the bonfires, being able to dress nicer, as well as more comfortable, and the start of our beloved hockey season... and yeah, it's probably my favorite time of year. The month of October through the first few weeks of November.

Then... it's the time of year that I love to make cool-weather comfort foods. Chili, homemade soups, stews, pot roasts, etc. Love those dishes, and you can make a ton, freeze it and eat it later, or have lunch for 3 or 4 days at work. Which is never a bad thing.

This post came up because I'm eating chili for lunch that my GF's Mom made yesterday. And damn, does she make a good chili. So much flavor, yet seems to be very simple from just looking at it. Mine is amazing(in my opinion obviously) but it's so much more complex to achieve the flavors I prefer. Need to talk to her about that. It's not spicy, though, which is the only downside. I like my chili to have a pretty good kick, but not overpowering of the rest of the flavors.

I threw a little Frank's Red Hot in it, though, and that takes it to a whole different level. :thumbu:

Tell me about it. Still not opening the windows down here in Florida.... but I'm at least not melting away now. Not to mention the end is finally in site, and we might be out as soon as the next 10 days if all goes as planned.

As for chili, am I the only one who just doesn't like it at all? It just does nothing for me. Although maybe I'd like it more if every time I had it I didn't have to hear "OMG MY CHILI IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST NO ONE CAN TOUCH IT!!!!!"

Haha.
Good chili is good chili, and to be completely honest, there's only so much you can do with it and maintain that traditional "Chili-esque" that it's supposed to have. So it's always kind of funny to see that kind of thing. The best chili(s) I've ever had are all very comparable to each other as far as taste, flavor, ingredients, etc.

Mine uses fresh, homemade hot italian sausage, btw. That's my secret ingredient. Most use ground beef, I believe. I use 50/50.

Cornbread, though... cornbread is a must with it. And now that I think about it, and I'm almost done with my chili... I wish I had some cornbread.

Tamales also go very good with it.

Good to hear you may be getting out of the sauna!

I don't think I've ever had chili and a tamale together..... but man, a well made tamale is so underappreciated.

Once made cornbread that I mixed a bit of salsa into before baking. Holy smokes was that good.

I chop up pickled jalapenos and put them in my cornbread. Very similar to adding salsa to it. :thumbu:

And get some good tamales(real ones) not some mass produced crap... and throw one over a bowl of chili. Chop it up with bites that you take of the chili. It's damn good, and if you're not a huge fan of "just chili" it will definitely bring the dish up a notch for ya.

Yeah, it can be. I see a lot of people where they either absolutely love chili, or absolutely hate it. Not a ton of middle ground on it, it seems.
