I am on facebook, but don't post a lot. But I'm amazed how many people post dumb stuff on there. My wife was telling me about these young girls at work who call in sick and then post picture of their night out and things like that. You have to be smarter than that. Stuff like that will bite you.

I think with Facebook, you've got a lot of people who were told they were special growing up so they developed a huge ego and Facebook replaces the ass kissing their parent(s) gave them. This was the boomers' biggest misstep by far, forget the economy.

You sound rather bitter, to be honest.

Facebook is a solid way to keep in touch with people who you are not that close with. People are really busy and being able to how people are doing and what they are doing is nice.

People are all different. You'd it'd be the people exactly your age that like you, but it's not always the case. Just gotta go with it and know it's that way for a reason.

There was a job I had that required me to sign up for an account, but I literally never posted anything on it, and uploaded one picture that I wasn’t even in as my avatar or whatever.

When using the internet - Facebook or anything else - it just comes down to not being a moron. Obviously, it is still possible to get hacked and all of that. But don't be stupid and you'll most likely be fine.
DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS, KIDS.

Edit: I'm using the new dark layout. So this will be the death of DarkSlateBlue I guess :( because I can't see it

I don't know if it's bitter, it could be. I'm glad I was raised old school because if I was like that, I wouldn't know the difference and that's a scary thought. But I am very disappointed in the quality of people. TBH, the best, most grounded people I've met are like 18-24. There's something wrong with that picture. Obviously we're talking in general and not everyone but it's pretty stunning. Age should bring wisdom, not ego and insecurities.

While I'm also disappointed in the amount of good people nowadays, if you're seeing the best/most grounded people in the age range of 18-24, you may be hanging with the wrong people in the 24-35 age range?

My generation, which is borderline millennial, sometimes called Xenials as we're right on the border of Gen X and Millennial, doesn't seem to have many of the problems you're talking about. And they're not babied/coddled, and haven't had their asses kissed by their parents to any degree. I see much more of what you're talking about when it comes to the actual age range of 18-24, the Generation Z group of people. But everyone is different, and you can't generalize entire age ranges/generations the same. People are raised differently all throughout the generations. It's just a matter of finding good people, honestly. And there are good people and bad people to be found throughout all of the generations.

Yeah, something is wacked, that would be my hope anyway. I am easy to give up on people, that's for sure. You guys seem pretty good/normal, so there's hope, lol. The only place I meet people are bars but I don't know where else to look. 18-24 works just fine for me for meeting women but it would be cool to make new guy friends my age. I don't like men that feel like they have something to prove, especially when they are around me. I like to joke around and be comfortable, not fight to see who is No. 1.

Most guys are seriously ego-driven and competitive. That's pretty normal to see, honestly.

And meeting people at bars... yeah, most aren't going to be the type of people you're probably looking to hang out with.

I read this as "met my first wife online", not "first met my wife online" and was confused for a second, lol.

Big difference.

I did the exact same thing

I don't like being right on the cusp of those two groups. I am 24

Well then you're good.

On a more serious note, it's quite obvious that you're not anything like the people he and I are talking about, so I wouldn't worry about it. :thumbu:

It's why I had said you can't generalize/judge entire generations as a whole. People are individuals. At least most of them.

I thought a lady never reveals her age, though? :p

Why is that emoji pink now?

A lot of men are very catty and jealous and try to get you into trouble.

Eh, I'm under 30. People knowing my age doesn't bother me
That emoji is really strange in pink. I prefer the old one

Wow, RIP to the victims in Las Vegas. I was just at Mandalay Bay a few weeks ago when I was in Vegas. I don't even have words for this. Just terribly sad.

Unbelievable, one person was able to kill 50 and wound over 200 and still got away. Something is terribly wrong with that picture. So terrible, hope they find the person and get to the bottom of why they did it. Need more armed security at events.

Absolutely awful thing to wake up and see. Thoughts and prayers to all the victims just trying to enjoy a concert. There's something seriously wrong with the world today... :shakehead
