Anyone notice Martin Necas's start?

I obviously have a bias for him being Czech and all. But my (bias) eye test shows a guy killing it and the stats are showing me the same thing. He's also split almost evenly between 5 on 5 points and PP points (8 to 7) so no 'PP Merchant'.

He's entering his prime and seems to be putting it together.

OR

Small sample size and due for a lot of regression?

Also, Kudos to Ghost! Nice start as well.

He was always one of those guys that was among the most noticeable on the ice in any game that he played.

Just a question of whether the points matched up with his speed and skill.

I used to get Ehlers vibes from him - not sure if that’s valid or not.
Which is funny because Ehlers is off to a great start too! Great comparable to be honest.

24/25 - 1st PP unit exclusively thus far

His 23/24 production drop was a function of usage. He went sideways EV despite being asked to be a true line driver. Drury and Bunting were his most common linemates in 23/24. Svechnikov was his most common linemate in 22/23. (It's Kotkaniemi and Roslovic this season).

Necas is legit. And as NyQuil said, almost always a factor when I catch Canes games.
I'm obviously a fan and I get that. When I saw him at the World's in Spring, I thought he was the best player on the ice. Fine, world's aren't NHL and are somewhere between NHL and AHL. So then I saw him play my Oiler's at start of season and he was absolutely everywhere and I thought he was the best player on the ice (and my Oilers have some damn good forwards). Then I saw him play Calgary and same thing, he just stood out.

Now he has a gorgeous goal and primary assist against the Caps right now which puts him at 17 points in 10 games so far.

Really curious how it goes over 82 games to be honest. My dream is 82 points in 82 games.

I genuinely think Eric Tulsky was *THIS* close to dealing Necas for futures during the offseason. Then we couldn't land Guentzel and we were backed into a corner. Guentzel is looking great at this point, but keeping Necas seems to have been the right move. Tulsky looking pretty smart in hindsight.

Sometimes it really is a matter of the player needs powerplay minutes and also players don't develop linearly. In any case Necas is a man possessed this season, and between him and Gostisbehere they are our best players.

If only Alvin had pulled the trigger in trading petersson for Necas. It would have been amazing

I thought he would be Vancouver bound if Petersson was not going to sign. Too bad for Canucks, Necas looks awesome and I wanted him.

1 of about 50 players having an unsustainable hot start?
Which may be fair... Huberdeau and pospisil come.to.mind. That's what I'm wondering. I don't expect this pace to sustain for sure (or fellow Czech dostal who is also off to an insane start). But what about a .ppg pace?

Ppg i could see. He's been flirting a little below that for a while and seems ready to take the next step.

Always thought he was underutilized by Carolina so good to see he’s finally in a good position to put up big numbers
