I've done similar, I'll get into Edmonton on the 17th, fly out on the 26th, if there's reasonable priced tickets come up i'll get them, if not from what my friends over there say the whole city will have an insane atmosphere anyway
That’s awesome. You are living! Enjoy the experience.

I am considering setting up next to a left turn lane that has drivers with long waits.. with a piece of cardboard that says "NEED MONEY 4 PLAYOFFS"

I can't justify to myself at this stage in my career spending that money :(. Saving for a home!!
I went to a few games in 2006. What are my best memories from 2006? Watching with my friends & family - At peoples houses, at a campsite with a crappy TV with bunny ears, out at a bar. I barely remember even going to the games. You do not need to be in the building to enjoy the finals.

The majority? No way. You’d have 7500+ tickets available as there’s over 14,000 STH. The entire rink would be dark blue on TM.

I don’t doubt some are putting stupid prices out there but they are just fishing. Some are professional resellers out to make a buck. Some sell to cover costs. It ain’t cheap. The beauty of it all is you don’t have to buy them.

I’ve been offered stupid prices for my Game 4 or 6 if it’s a cup clincher and said no way.

Also you have it backwards. The STH I know sell part of their regular season tix to afford the playoff tix! You want to see the playoffs!!
I'm sure there is a lot more then we think

Just look at the number of tickets listed for sale. A couple thousand maybe. Anyway I hope your not one of the people here who constantly;

A: blamed season ticket holders for the DoD
B: blamed season ticket holders for Chiarelli
C: blamed season ticket holders for concession prices
D: blamed season ticket holders for ticket prices
E: blamed season ticket holders for lack of ticket availability
F: blames season ticket holders for playoff scalping
G: dumps on STH as Tier 1 fans

But when the Oilers make the Final as has been anticipated with 2 of the best players in the world on the team:

Any season ticket holders want to give me their access code so I can see the team hoist a Stanley Cup?

Oh I will, I love the city and I'm hoping/expecting it will at least match up to the playoff final that Forest got promoted in, except with the possibility of it lasting for an entire week instead of just a day

edit: thinking about it there's quite a few parallels

failed to win in the playoffs 19 years earlier
were bottom of the league with a coach that refused to adapt to anything, the teams worst start in over 100 years despite high expectations
coaching change bought almost instant change in tone/atmosphere
were the best team in the league after the change
keepers were prone to avoidable mistakes, but came up big in the semi final

If I sold my tickets for game 3 + 4 in round 3 I would taken a $300 loss for each game. There are very limited amount of people that overpay for playoffs and no one overpays for those weekday games unless it Toronto or Boston. This year I sold my Toronto and a Nashville game combo, I think I made an extra $100 on the pair. This was a private sale.

I am sure it's ok for 99.8% of events. It's when the crazy and unusual happen in a marketplace once every 10 years. I can see a Game 4 or Game 6 Cup clincher being one of those rare occasions where things spiral out of control.

Imagine paying $5000K a ticket, fly to Edmonton, 3 hours before the game being told you dont have tickets and you're forced to cram into Johnnys Pub at Queen Mary Park to watch the game. (Is there even a Johnnys Pub at Queen Mary Park? I do not know lol).

That would just suck if you could have paid $1000 more and been guaranteed tickets from TM.
I don't know what happens with Fansfirst, but Stubhub will charge the seller the price they listed the tickets for if they don't deliver. You have give them a credit card and I bank direct deposit iirc. I buy a American sports on Stubhub. Been using Fansfirst for Flames tickets.

I think a home is more important.
Congrats, screw the banks and their interest rates

I never said you did. I said “I hope you’re not one of the people who….”

Since I’ve joined STH have been shit on here for everything from ticket prices to poor play to bad weather.

But you did say half of us are scalping.

I’m tired of being shit on for being a STH so pardon the push back.

DANGER RANGER!

This is exactly how people got burned at the Phoenix Super Bowl. It sounds like Fans First do not get possession of the tickets. This means the seller can change their mind leaving the buyer hanging without tickets and if the ticket seller, in this case Fans First, don’t get their refund from the ticket owner they can literally run out of cash.

Many reputable ticket resellers went out of business due to lack of cash and went insolvent to avoid refunds which they couldn’t do. Insolvency was their only way out. It was so huge that it made national news in Canada and the US, thousands of fans were left without tickets or refunds, and prices went nuts.

I got my tickets and literally had an armed escort to my car but had to pay almost 4 times my original amount I paid months earlier and I bought them from a reputable reseller company which I bought secondary tickets for 15 years down there. I know of 4 guys who dropped 5k US each and were left with no tickets. It was crazy.

The problem is ticket sellers commit to sell to the reseller but then days later the seller sees that prices have increased dramatically and then want more or they don’t send the tickets to the reseller who has already sold those tickets basing the cost on what they paid not necessarily the current market price. But unless they pay way more than agreed to the seller, the reseller gets no tickets to resell which they already sold.

Now the buyer has paid but has no tickets and won’t get any unless they buy more expensive tickets and may not get a refund.

I would only buy through Ticketmaster for the finals. Your getting screwed with fees yes but your getting your tickets guaranteed.

Never buy tickets from a company that does not have the actual digital possession of the tickets or the electronic means to guarantee a transfer immediately. Otherwise it’s a risk for the very odd event where prices spiral like this one.

I bought through Fans First and the tickets are currently in my Apple Wallet and were also delivered through the TicketMaster app.

I don't know what Fans First does to protect against "sellers remorse", I have heard other companies where the seller has to have a payment method on file, and are charged the amount they sold the tickets for that the reseller has to refund to the buyer. Again, no idea what policy Fans First has in place around this though.

Thanks for the heads up
Not sure if Alchemy lounge in the Marriot has their patio up and running during these playoff shindigs but thats a beautiful outdoor patio with some tables overlooking the action in the pit. Oh, I think you mentioned you are with yourr sun. Probably can't get in there then. Other restaurants overlook the area and one doesn't have to be in moss pit just around the Arena and action all around. it. For home games you'll here the arena bouncing when the Oilers score and win and stuff.

I have had a good experience with them so far, buying and selling.

Looks like the ice district has some carnival going on at the event space east of the arena taking away one of the watch party spaces. That sucks, gonna make things tighter downtown. The icehouse at the ice district doesn’t allow minors after 4pm on a game day which is unfortunate. Wish we had a bit more for fans to be involved that included the kids, especially for those from out of town.
