Man I would have liked to watch a team world with the rest of the players. This tournament has tarnished itself by not having the best of the best.

I too wish that, but the players are at least amped up to play for their countries. We'll get to see the other countries ice their best squads in 2026. For now, we can enjoy 4 of the most dominant countries in hockey go to war for bragging rights, and believe me- it appears these players take those bragging rights very seriously!

Based mostly on IIHF Worlds. In best-on-best competition this century they've never finished top 3 and have finished 6th as often as they've finished 4th.

100%. We are here to be entertained. I enjoy all types of sports or activities if I am watching the best in the world. You can easily argue that all of it is meaningless. What makes winning the Stanley Cup meaningful? If these are the best players in the world trying their best to win the game then it is definitely meaningful to fans of the game of hockey.

If you are only happy if your team wins then I feel sorry for you. It's the journey that matters. That's life dude.

Anyway, no one wants to listen to someone tell you that what you are doing has no meaning. Absolutely ridiculous argument.

I'm pumped for it to be over ASAP, and to be the ratings disaster it deserves to be.

It's really bad we're left without meaningful hockey for one half of February. Next week's Saturday can't arrive soon enough.

Maybe they should have it so whatever team finishes 4th gets eliminated from next season's tournament and replaced by a different country? Have Czechs replace the last place team next year, etc

I could have cared less about this tourney before tonight's game but after the game I'm all in. NFL all star game is flag, NBA all star game is a no defense dunk contest. Baseball is OK but this tourney just raised the heart rate for NHL fans. Be gone with the all star game and give me this every year. This game was intense and like a game 7 a treat for fans indeed.
