I'm skeptical and cynical about this tournament, and despite that and the fact my vested interest isn't anywhere near as high as other international hockey (ie. Olympics), I'll watch here and there if I'm around (but won't go out of my way and reschedule things to do so).
But to suggest watching NHL regular season games is better than this seems like a huge stretch. Give me loaded teams like these four all the time over seeing hacks like Ryan Reaves out there for an additional five or six games on my favourite team. Regardless of how high/low the stakes are at tournaments like these, I always find there to be a huge letdown going from the calibre of play with star-studded international teams back to regular NHL team games.
