Anyone else pumped for the 4 nations?

I'm not an NHL plant, but since it's been announced I've been excited for it. The ASG was waaaaarshed and this is something that, while flawed, I am looking forward to see. We haven't seen any of these guys Olympicsing when we should have, and it feels like an appetizer for it.

No tournament "means anything" in an objective sense. The Olympics is a corrupt organization only out to make money. Same with the NHL. All of this stuff is bread and circuses for the masses.

For those who say it's somehow not real or doesn't matter, what makes this any different from the Canada Cup? Completely made up tournament, in that case with 6 teams, that existed only to provide for best on best international hockey when the NHL wasn't in the Olympics. Hockey fans of that era remember many of those games as some of the best ever played.

We've got the best players in the world competing with their nation on their chest. It's not going to be crappy all star game hockey. They're going to care. I'm tired of the negativity. I expect this to be fun and exciting hockey.

Because Russia always does so well at best on best tournaments in hockey.

Give me Canada/World Cup over Olympics any day. I say this for one reason: best of 3 Finals.

It's unfortunate that Russia won't be participating but for the life of me I can't understand these extreme reactions. Like, "oh no Russia won't be there, how could I possibly enjoy games between the four other best hockey nations on the planet?"

When Russia wants to behave they'll be welcome to play with everyone again, and that will be great. Until then, I'm going to enjoy some great hockey and not worry too much about it.

It's really bad we're left without meaningful hockey for one half of February. Next week's Saturday can't arrive soon enough.

Russia should absolutely be playing international hockey.

But they were cordially not invited because of reasons we all are aware of and we don't talk politics or human rights on here.

To be fair everything is completely made up, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Olympics are both completely made up. That said I don't give a rats ass about international hockey/Olympics, I give even less for this.

The 4-Nations isn't a very meaningful tournament, but it still could be entertaining.
Depends how much the players put into it.
