Don't count out Brodzinski/Mistele either, both are legit Goal scorers.

Brodzinski especially, has incredible fast hands.

Mike Amadio is turning heads as well at Center. Had an incredible season last year.

Each of those 3 are the kids that I was talking about when I said not to be surprised if a few of our kids step up and end up being very good players for us too. Johnny B has great hands and can skate too. In time his hockey IQ will catch up with his talent or at least I think so. Amadio's name came up all summer long around my hockey friends. Everyone thinks he is going to be a sure fire 2nd line C/wing in time. I still see some rough edges but that is what I think I should be seeing at this stage. Mistele is the Mystery Man. If he can add consistency to his game he could be a dandy.

I agree about Mistele, he is somewhat of a dark horse like Ebert.

Consistency plagues both of them. If they figure it out though, holy cow does Lombardi/Futa put another feather in their cap for draft steals.

Ebert is a damn wizard with the puck on his stick sometimes, and is a tremendous skater. Mistele has shown(Memorial Cup play offs) he can make teams pay around the net, and be a nightmare to move (ala Mersch).

Exciting times if you ask me.

I agree. I am surprised to see people unhappy with our system when I think it is in very good shape/ As always any system could be better but ours looks great when you consider the style of hockey we play. Ebert has super fast hands and I agree, it is a matter of consistency not ability. If he makes it to the NHL we will have a solid 2nd pairing PP point man.

And who would offer a first for Lucic ????
He already said he wants to go to Vancouver beside that he is barely worth a 3rd rounder.

Come on Kurri, I know this isn't gonna be your first trade deadline!

IMO this is the point though. I dont know that we look to the pipeline to replace Kopi. Your big players get paid, and there is little point to developing someone who is to expensive to keep, or who you could just buy/trade for anyways.

I 100% agree with you, I was just using that as an illustration. The pipeline is fine, and in my opinion, the only reason to worry otherwise is if you think we need to replace a #1 or #2 C or D right now.

Had Zacha fell, sure. But he didn't. There was no pick this last draft in the 13th slot that screams (sure fire NHL top talent).

The Kings would have had to move up into the top 6-10 picks, which would have costed more assets (Like a roster player).

Disagree but I think it's splitting hairs. You could easily have made an argument for Barzal or Connor, for example. That's a much 'better' (read: blue chip) pick than the Kings would normally have any shot at. I agree with your overall point.

First you say there was no sure fire top talent available around spot 13 in last years draft (of course thats always a guess unless you pick top 3). Than again both Brodz and Mistele are legit goalscorers ?

You could be right and wrong, nobody knows it right now, but this sounds like a fan.

Let me be the first to say the odds there was a top talent available at spot 13 is bigger than Mistele and Brodz being legit NHL goal scorers.

I agree with you. I just took it as Damacles was saying that our pipeline is actually underrated, that we're making good depth picks, not that he was really comparing them to first round talents.

No I understand that.

Point I try to make. If you downgrade last years draft just because we didnt have a pick, you shouldnt overrate a couple of mid level picks either.

They are (Legit) goal scorers at the Jr/NCAA ranks they have both played. Brodz is in the AHL now, Hope too see him have a good Pro year. Of course moving forward no one knows how they turn out, and yes a 13th pick player would have (better pedigree) to make it to the show.

There was nothing in my statements overrating said players, they are good players(that had good seasons) for the current leagues they play in. Now the hard work from the players/development staff starts.

Compared to 1990-2003. I'll take this pipeline/development over that garbage 100/100 times.

Just to answer the original question. I think Keystone is fine, and I'm not worried about it. The pipeline is a much more efficient and safer way to move oil than rail tanker cars.
