Nylander cared about winning when he abandoned his post in favor of holding Dubas hostage ?

Marner took Dubas to the cleaners to work for a coach he disliked (Babcock).

please.

Wasn’t Nylander’s stated sticking point on the contract about not wanting to get traded? If he “wants to win” so bad he signs a 1Mx8 contract, he’d probably be in Arizona by now for every pick they own and locked in to not winning until his deal runs out.

How many of you thought he hurt his wrist against Florida the other night? How many of you were happy that he ended up getting hit in the nuts in Florida the other night? Be honest ha ha ha ha

I was watching the game and I missed this. Hope he’s okay though lol

It's kinda funny he might score 40 and people will complain.

Anyways, I have zero concerns with his performance until Game 1.

Stay healthy for the rest of the season. That's all that matters
He's going to get to 50, or really close to it.

The down season falls mostly on a crazy low shooting percentage as much, if not more, than anything else.

In terms of his shots on goal, he's been right around where it should be.

That damned snake bite just won't let go....

Well it's low because he was playing with a hand injury. The difference in his game lately is striking now that he's returning to full health. He was playing hurt basically the entire season, no doubt about it.

I am not sure I can rememeber a Leaf ever having 15 shots in a single regulation game...and against a tight team like Carolina.

He will be a problem for TB this playoffs.

I know he’s looking better lately and scoring goals, but something still doesn’t look right to me. If you watch the last few goals he’s scored from distance, they’re off shots I have never seen him take other than this year. They’re slow release wrist shots, not his usual fast snap. Almost reminds me of how Semin used to shoot from distance with a heavy slow wrister, he had similar wrist/hand injuries that forced him to adjust and get better defensively as well.

It’s not the end of the world but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Matthews reinvent his shooting arsenal this offseason, the violently whippy snap shot might not be physically sustainable longterm.

This thread title looks more bizarre with each game now.

Should be renamed "Anyone else concerned about the goalies that have to play against Matthews?

He'll release it in the playoffs

It shouldn't look bizarre. There was legit concern with his play when the thread was made and even throughout the season, since he cleared himself of the lingering injury he had, he looks like the Matthews we saw last year. 2 way beast.

Might be the case.

I think a similar thing with Kovalchuk happened with his wrist shot early in his career too. He used to have crazy whip on his wrister too that he sort of lost later in his career without injuries.

I wouldn’t be surprised if part of the secret to Ovi’s goal scoring longevity is being the only sniper other than Stamkos to rely on his one timer so much. It’ll be interesting to see how the whippy composite stick from day 1 generation ages, we don’t really have any precedent for them considering Kessel’s flex was seen as outrageous in 2007.

yeah...last couple games by Matthews was a relief. he's feeling good again and it shows.

How? Unless you are incapable of applying context.
Are you still concerned about him lol?

I was concerned too, just commenting how it’s aged, given his recent play. Don’t get the defensive reactions, it was a joke.

I just don't get comments like that is all. If someone is playing like shit and then doesn't, it doesn't mean they were never playing badly. This thread never said he was cooked, just he was playing badly. And he played badly for like 65 games this year.

He's been basically back to himself the past few games especially with how hard he is battling in tight spots and how he gets to the net front by will. Want to see him start finishing his checks again but I think he is back. He plays like that no I am not worried about him anymore

Dude I was in this thread criticizing him too, but the thread title now looks hilarious. It’s obvious you don’t get it. Later.
