It might look strange, but would Panthers be willing to trade Lundell? He is RFA this summer:
- FLO has only 9 players signed for next season with Reinhart and Montour as prime UFAs
- Even with increased cap, they have 28,8M projected cap space. Can they sign Reinhart, Montour, Lundell and 11 other players for that money?
- Will they trade Bobrovsky in order to get some salary cap space?

They have 6/2/2 under contract near $60M

currently $10M for Reinhart and Montour. If they were to sign thrm with small increases might be $13M for both

7/3/2 for $73M

4/2/0 for 1M average

11/5/2 $79M

2/2/0 for about $2M each — including Lundell

13/7/2 for $87M

Lundell's value is much lower to other teams than the Panthers. He still has some untapped offense and is the kind of guy who might grow into a pretty good leader. Now could be pretty much the worst time to trade him.

Not sure he's available but clearly struggling.
I'd want a comparable D prospect for him if he was moved.

I totally agree that he has some untapped potential and that is the reason why he could attract several teams. I was thinking about rebuilding teams like Habs, Detroit, Chicago and similar move as Habs did with Dach or Newhook. Those teams might look for young player with top 6 potential and they might have some interesting pieces to offer. Vets, solid bottom 6 players under reasonable contract, prospects, picks.

I'd say he's a reasonable comparable for Newhook, who went for 2 picks in the 30s (31 and 37, as I recall).

I could imagine Montreal offering a pair of seconds, but they don't have their own so unlikely they will be as high as 37, or trying to build a conditional deal based on Florida's pick in 2025, since the most likely outcome of their Monahan deal is that Montreal gets that pick.

I think Bobrovsky's contract will scare off a lot of teams.

While offensively he hasn't taken off he still fits the 3rd line role perfectly with Luostar. If they had an competent RW next to them other than Cousins I think his offensive game could grow more.
Last year they were paired with Reinhart and that line had some clutch goals.

I can't see a trade proposal for Lundell that both sides of fans would agree to.
Florida has no real reason to trade a 22 year old RFA center that still can blossom.

disagree. Everyone knows he can play and that is young and has played a role on a contender most his young career. On a rebuilding team he could be a major piece. Whereas with Florida he’s the 3C.

While it isn't impossible, I think Panther fans are dancing in the streets if you can get both those guys for 13M.

Lundell's value is definitely higher than Newhook. He can actually play center which is real incentive. He showed he can perform in playoffs as well.
I assume Panthers might be interested in some solid top 4 D. They have Ekblad, Mikkola and even if they sign Montour they are missing D depth.

Perhaps, but it's still a good comparison - 3d liner with potential to be a contributor higher up in the lineup, reaching RFA status on a team that might not want to commit to him long-term and would rather not offer him the raise for a bridge deal.

If they want a D, I have to think Mailloux/Harris/Struble/Xhekaj could be available; Barron and Guhle probably wouldn't be.

the problem with using newhook as a comparable is that hughes overpaid to get one of his former clients.

Might be, but Panthers would not be interested in picks solely. I think a package of 3rd liner, D prospect and pick would be interested package.
From Habs, something like Ylonen + Engstrom + solid pick or vet under reasonable contract.

I'll take Lundell over Newhook all day long. Even if he tops out as a good 3c he is nice value, but I think he'll end up being a good 2c. Nice to see a steady progression in his FO% during his three years in the league as a very young player. I wouldn't trade him for either Faber, Wallstedt, or Rossi, and probably not Yurov, but would trade him for any two of the Wild's prospects(i.e. Ohgren/Marat + Hunt/Peart)even though Lundell isn't really a need, with JEE signed longterm. I can't think of any current Wild Dman that would be acceptable to both sides in a trade...both Spurgeon and Brodin have NMC's, and Faber is untouchable for anything short of a star, or potential star player.

For comparison's sake, Lundell has much better FO and points totals at the same age as JEE. He might not be quite as strong defensively, but he is in the ballpark. The future is very bright for Lundell, in a non flashy way. He should be a mainstay on the Panthers for the next ten years if they manage him right.

at their ages I’d be concerned if you gave Reinhart more than $8M and Montour more than $5M. If they ask for more there is stuff on the market to replace them with.

Not interested in some run of the mill 3rd liner + young dman who won't pan out + late round pick.

Slaf one-for-one might do it but I'd still decline.
