Anson Carter unveils Alpharetta Sports and Entertainment looking to bring expansion team to Atlanta

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it. Click Here for Updates
1. Atlanta has experienced the 2nd most Growth (population, infrastructure, Density) in the last 10 years
2. Has the best job Market in all of the US currently.
3. #1 City in the country for Millenials to move to according to reports
4. Top 3 city in newly grads moving to and finding their first post-grad Jobs
5. US Soccer Federation announced Atlanta is the main city for Soccer (Building a new HQ in the coming year)
5. Atlanta United has the #1 attendance among all soccer teams

Im sure I'm missing more stats, but you can see why Gay Bettman is very high on this Market and prioritizing this. Atlanta is a jewel in the south. With the right ownership, it can be deadly

Atlanta!!!

I'm sure it will work " this time "

The Thrashers averaged a 24th place finish. They also averaged 24th in attendance. What do you expect out of a southern expansion franchise? The fans here basically gave the expected value attendance. Give them an occasional winning season and the fans will show up, same as about 2/3 of NHL markets.

Bruh Im talking MLS

Also:

"The result Saturday marked the club's first win of the season, which took place in front 67,727 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was the third-largest attendance at a soccer match on Saturday, March 9 in the world behind only Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) and Manchester United (English Premier League)"

Expanding while the Coyotes are still in Arizona is about as stupid as it gets, then again it's the NHL. We don't need another expansion team. 32 teams is already a lot, there's no reason why the NHL should have the most pro-sports teams out of the big 4.

One BILLION dollars. Mwaahhahah

Okay but would straight Bettman also be high on the market

Is he part of the group from last week or is this different group?

Which one is affiliated with the planned arena?

Rival bids are what killed Houston's chance at NHL in late 90's

Atlanta is a very good market, Hawks/Falcons/Braves/United FC are thriving sports franchises there.

34 teams is ridiculous

Need 2 Stanley Cups soon
Do it like the memorial cup kinda.

NHL East is a league. NHL west is a league.
The have their own cups. Then they play a best of 7 against eachother in a host city.

I'll say it whenever Atlanta gets mentioned, but if they get a team they should be the Firebirds.

Flames = another word for fire
Thasher = a kind of bird
Atlanta has a literal phoenix, a mythological firebird, on their seal

Do it.

And others have suggested it as well. Not my idea.

just relocate the coyotes there and award an expansion team to houston

makes a lot more sense

How did Anson Carter only play 674 games? He was in the league for a long time. If you would have asked me i would have guessed he got at least 8 or 9 hundred.

Always liked him, but he was actually on only in the league for 10 years and only had one complete season and a couple anywhere near complete.

I’ll only like it if they bring back the Thrashers name and unis.

Anything else and I won’t be a fan.

Of course it makes sense the NHL will have more teams than other major American leagues because it treats Canada like a major market.

NBA: 1 Canadian team
NFL: No Canadian teams
MLB: 1 Candian team
NHL: 7 Canadian teams

and dont those 7 Canadian teams generate more $$ that the 25 American teams for the NHL
percentage wise
