Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024 season thread)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Gavrikov gonna get paid.
I'm hoping (praying) we're pleasantly surprised when they announce the contract.

Anything under $7m AAV would be solid. The term isn't going to be amazing but that will be a problem for 5 years from now lol.

I think the Marcus Pettersson contract is a much better comparable for Gavrikov than this new Chychrun contract. When you look at Pettersson's career compared to Gavrikov's they're quite similar - Similar player profiles too.

Maybe 7 years, $6.25m AAV? I'd love if the AAV were lower obviously but trying to be realistic - I imagine it's going to be ~$6.5m - $7m. Which will honestly be fine with the cap going up.

Kuzzy, Kopi, Kempe
Kuzzy is a great addition for a 3rd round pick. Has an ok shot, right handed, but at the end of the day he's a below average middle 6 forward.

Foegele, Danault, Moore
37 & 24 are good defensive forwards. Moore is losing 50:50 battles & coughing up the puck in all 3 zones. Despite putting up 30 last year, Moore has reverted back to a below average middle 6 forward.

Fiala, Byfield, Laferrier
Fun line. 55 starting to take off. Fiala is the most creative forward we have. Just think what this line would do with a legit sniper! 14 is ok. Still developing, working hard, but he's a below average middle six forward at this point.

The King's should be fighting for a cup, but we aren't because of all the draft capital Blake blew from the Kuemper trade to requiring Kuemper. Instead of have a difference maker or two, the King's have filled out their top 9 with below average middle 6 forwards.

Lewis is an upgrade on Moore at this point everywhere except when Moore gets a bounce around the net.

Oilers might have regressed enough for Hiller to sneak by this year!!!

This is Blake's legacy.

Oh no....

I'm afraid you may have outted yourself as a non-puck knower with this comment.

Laferriere is nasty and he's absolutely part of the reason 55 and 22 are having the success we've seen lately. Laf has been incredibly snakebit but he's still been playing good/great hockey and doing a ton of little things to help his linemates / help the team win.

To say he's a 'below average middle six forward at this point' is a bit insane. Just because the production has slowed down a little bit since the beginning of the year doesn't mean he's some sub-average middle sixer. Laf is a very good player even when the points aren't necessarily showing up.

Also, you say in your post that Lewis is an upgrade over Moore right now.....?????

Some questionable takes to say the least my friend.

Thats a lot of scratch for a guy who gets injured a lot . For some reason I thought he was older than 26, seem like he's been around for a long time. I guess he just set the market .
I would think about right, when healthy he's a top pairing defenseman. I might be a little concerned about 8 years, but he had the leverage as I believe he was going to be an Ufa

Lewis is most definitely not an upgrade over Moore right now. Sure maybe during the 2012 and 2014 runs he might have been (and even that's debatable), but surely no longer.

Jeannot, Edmundson, Foegle, Kuemper, Kuzmenko...

Could Rob Blake be in the running for GM of the year?

No one can explain why they are so good at home and pedestrian on the road this season... Theory: until this season they were very passive on the forecheck, relying on the 1-3-1 in a lot of situations... that is a dud at home, that boring-ass style... now getting more energy in the building w a more aggressive style I think is part of the answer. Now, why are the shitty on the road? Maybe because they arent playing the trap, the home team is exploting things more easily with the matchups.

They played the trap in the first period at Minnesota the other day. Didnt look so good. I dont know what their problem on the road is. Maybe a lot of the guys are family men now and just like being home.

That sounds plausible too. One thing I dont trust are regular season trends translating into the playoffs. They need to get their game together on the road.

Columbus would easily pay him $7m for 7 years if Provorov is gone
psh man respectfully, f**K columbus - no shot he (Gavrikov) wants to go back there lol (again respectfully of course)

He loves LA and LA loves him. He wants to stay, I really believe that. But you never know man hard to pass up mils especially when you gotta family and junk. You know. So maybe Gav wants to just get the bag - that's his right. And I'd wish him well. Kings would need to look at other options to replace him then - which might be challenging but not impossible.

I say he re-signs soon - I bet it comes out to be some stupid ass number like 7 years, $7.7m AAV or $7.14m AAV or some other bs. Just hoping its under 7. But we'll see.

EDIT: I just realized you're a CBJ fan.... my bad bro lol I'm faded no disrespect meant to your city. I actually love Columbus. I'm just trolling lol

You make it sound like they have not won a single road game, lol.
