Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024-25 season thread)

Watching the PK get absolutely shredded while the coaching staff made zero adjustments was painful.
McDavid skates around, goes behind the net, opens the blade and passes to draisaitl who is half asleep waiting for the puck. Time and time again, while the Kings do NOTHING to block the pass to Draisaitl. At that point I’d have someone just mark Draisaitl and have the rest stagger on McDavid. Just makes no sense how they never adjusted.

Oh god do you remember when they just collapsed in front of the crease while McDavid was roaming uncontested. So f***ing stupid.

This completely counters what you posted an is a "fact check article"

We have to have agree to disagree but I would personally trust Newsweek over politico
More on the budget and it not being cut: Budget Cuts to Fire Department Are a Point of Contention, but the Full Picture Is Complicated

“
A spokesman for Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield explained that it is common budgeting practice that while negotiations are in progress, money for anticipated pay raises is not allocated to the department but approved separately in unappropriated funds.

When the two sides did reach an agreement in November, that money was moved over to the fire department’s pot, according to Mr. Blumenfield’s office, meaning this year’s fire budget is actually $53 million more than last year.”

Also, regarding the chief being “unqualified”, she has been a firefighter, paramedic, engineer, fire inspector, captain, battalion chief, assistant chief, fire marshal and deputy chief during her 22 years with the department and when she took the exam back when she started she was in the top 50 out of several thousand. Not sure what qualifications she’s missing out on.

I also find it peculiar that the same folks who want to blame her for what’s happening are also saying out of the other side that the fire department was being underfunded and no wonder this happened.

..

Lewis is in some truly elite company here.

Edit: Totally unrelated, we have extra emoji choices! Sad & Angry are now options!!!!!

Hockey historians of the future will spend countless hours trying to understand how he got to 1000 games. They may never come to a consensus - since we cant figure it out in the present.

Only thing Fiala is elite at is offensive zone blueline turnovers per 60 and taking dipshit penalties in defense of his fragile ego.

“lollmfao”
This is such a weak response to clearly being proved wrong. A recap...

Another poster highlighted the fact that Fiala has only 2 even strength assists this year and added something along the lines of "Fiala's better than this, I wonder what's going on".

Then you came in with "Fiala's better than that? You sure about that? Seems on point to me"

Then myself and at least 1-2 other posters replied to you pointing out that yes, Fiala is CLEARLY better than 2 even strength assists in nearly 40 games.

Then you half jokingly change your narrative to "the only thing he's elite at is o-zone turnovers per 60 and dipshit penalties".... Nice. Good talk.

If you use chrome or brave try this.. will apply to all pages tho - i use it - it messes up some websites

  1. To enable dark mode for all websites, you can:
    • Type "chrome://flags" in the address bar and hit Enter

    • Search for "dark mode" in the search box at the top of the Experiments page

    • Click the box to the right of "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" and select "Enabled"

Tbh, with the age of analytics here, I’d really be interested to see a “blueline turnovers per 60” stat.

Kevin would absolutely crush the leauge in that category. He has a handful every single game, and they kill the teams momentum.

Probably has something to do with his Jack Johnson-esque plus minus compared to his teammates.

If I switch from dark to light mode (Apple devices) on my display if definitely changes the forum accordingly.

Problem is half the time it's subjective, sure there are clear cut WTF giveaways, but most of the times, it's the guy handling the pass wrong, or taking a wrong angle, or any number of things that happen in a game.

And did you also realize that the Kings lost all three of those games after having a 2-1 lead in the series without him?
Without additional context that’s some anti-vaxxer level of correlation = causation arguments.

I’m just saying, I don’t remember my view at the time but in general I felt there were far bigger issues than Fiala in that series even though he wasn’t 100% when he played.

Must have been his fault then right????

Kevin Fiala in that series was a 39% CF%, 38% SCF%, and a 33% xGF%.

Fiala IS AN ISSUE. He has always been an issue in the playoffs across now several teams. It's just now also manifesting in the regular season.

I'm sorry but I'm sick of people burying their heads firmly in their asses about this. It's visible AND it shows up in stats. What more will it take to at least make you guys say "huh, that is bad" rather than "Lol no problems?" Why the hell is the bar for this guy set so low? We need him to be one of our best players, a true positive difference maker, not just 'not bad', especially given they've coddled him every god damn which way to no effect (except a bad PP and ever dwindling even strength play).

I try to give everyone here the benefit of the doubt but it seems some people are hypnotized by his razzle-dazzle and ignore the substance.

I type this knowing damn well you have your head buried up your ass and won't see it, but holy shit there's more to the game than advanced stats.

Now, Fiala has not been good this year, he's had flashes of it, he's had some holy shit how did he do that moves, but by and large, he hasn't been good, and yet, he's still just a shade below a PPG for his Kings career.

So either we want players like that, and hmmm...Kaliyev......to be able to play their game....or we don't, but people like you want it both ways.....

Fiala is not the problem, simple as that.
