The book on Fiala's regular season is that he's always slow to start but once he gets going he doesn't slump. I'm not worried about him - he'll get it figured out any day now.
Holy yikes please god no.Eric Stephens mentions this on the athletic, he mentioned it would be
Farabee

Two firsts for an 11 point 3rd liner sounds like a Blake wet dream.Eric Stephens mentions this on the athletic, he mentioned it would be

Barzal would be a great King. I think he could be the guy that would gel with Fiala here finally.Good f***ing God, no more adding 1st or 2nd rounders in a trade to overpay. If Blake hasn't learned his lesson from those past mistakes he shouldn't be making any trades. If Barzal can be had for a reasonable price I'd feel out what the Isles would want. Regardless, any upcoming trade has to be for a center to replace Kopitar, a quality C too. You can always temporarily move them to wing if C is overloaded (which we're not).

The bright side about the first round picks they traded is the range they were drafting in hasnt really shown much at the NHL level. Yannetti had mentioned they see certain draft years development will be hurt most by covid and I think it could have been 2022-23 and why they were ok with trading picks that got guys like Ohgren and Bonk.
Now if you wanna say they should have kept Faber and Vilardi and still been a lottery team to get Bedard there is an argument there.
Eric Stephens writes a Kings article once a month if the Athletic subscribers are lucky - I'd bet @Sol has a better inside track on the Kings wheeling and dealing than Eric.Eric Stephens mentions this on the athletic, he mentioned it would be

Whole goddam team of utility infielders…Joel Farabee would just be another middle six guy on a team swimming with middle six guys. Offensively he would be an upgrade over Turcotte on the 1st line, but not enough to warrant trading yet another 1st rounder, and paying him over $4m more than the Kings are paying Turcotte means that he is probably a lesser value in a cap world. And he has very minimal playoff experience as he's spent his entire career on awful Flyers teams.
The Kings are better off just standing pat, but the problem continues to be that you have a management team that knows their jobs are likely on the line and isn't looking at draft picks as anything more than tools to try and win a playoff round this year and try and save their jobs.

I just watched Christmas Story again…You read my mind my friend, I was going to say
"In baseball terms the Kings have a lineup full of #6 hitters"
The Golden Knights were kinda like this when they debuted. A team full of 2nd liners.
If that really is the 'problem', then the root of the problem is ownership for keeping those guys on.The Kings are better off just standing pat, but the problem continues to be that you have a management team that knows their jobs are likely on the line and aren't looking at draft picks as anything more than tools to try and win a playoff round this year and try and save their jobs.
Cap: Moore is struggling big time in neutral zoneHard to see a good trade match. Need an actual upgrade over someone in the Kings' top 9, preferably a power play sniper. Would have to fit in under the cap.
