Forsberg is signed for 5 more seasons after this one.

If the Kings want a player of his caliber we can kiss our best prospect (Greentree) and our 1st goodbye. Maybe more.

I just don't think it's worth it. We'd be wasting assets on a Kings team that has no realistic chance of contending.

Forsberg is signed yes, didn't realize that long, but when I meant short term, I meant more in productivity, he is 30 years old, he's not who you empty the cupboard for.

He seems like one of those guys who will age well, and his cap hit is pretty reasonable. Not that I'm advocating for acquiring him.

I think a low risk / high reward type move makes the most sense. Kane for a mid round pick type move. A cheap vet who might find his game with a change of scenery.

LA also needs a goaltender IMO.

How are folks feeling about turcotte at this point?

Same way I've felt for years. Will be a solid energy player that will provide sandpaper and energy and get you 8-12 goals and 25-40 points. Certainly not what the Kings expected when he was drafted, but also not a complete throw-away. Had they gotten him where they got Kaliyev, or even Bjornfot it would have been a great pick. He plays the game the right way and has an excellent motor.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

A faster and more skilled, but smaller and more brittle, Trevor Lewis. Also prone to costly giveaways high in the offensive zone. The kind of all purpose quality player winning teams have on the roster. I’m not opposed to moving him, but I don’t think his value is very high. Might as well keep him and let him endear himself to the fans.

Kreider would probably be a solid pickup, depending on cost, have to view him as short term though, same with Hall and even Forsberg, Tkachuk would be the only long term pickup and not sure he's worth the cost.
Tkachuk would probably cost Byfield + 1st + top prospect…that’s just my feeling. Maybe last year it’s Byfield + prospect.

He's excelled...especially as LW1 or with Laferriere. He was closest to scoring on Quick...no one scored on him...he would have had 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 pts, +2.

He's never played more than 18 games in a season and that was bottom 6, mostly,
I still think he's a center. I would leave him with Kopitar and Kempe. Why not?
11 pts, +10. Making plays, nice passes, getting shots off. He's not a bottom 6 player.

Q had 40 games and 5 goals, 5 assists, in his first real stint. This is really Turcotte's first real stint.
If he plays center, it will be 4C right now and he's too good for that. He's produced up top.
Maybe when Kopi, Phil are gone, he's #3C. I think he would not disappoint as #2C, by then.
He is still ramping up. I joined Cam Robinson's elite prospect sites and asked him where he had
Turcotte in the 2019 draft...think he said 3rd OA. Sure, he may never live up to that, but he's
a helluva player and think he'll be scoring 40 pts for sure. I bet he could do it this yr, if he stays LW1 and gets some PP time....but over 30 for sure.

I agree. That said, if he stays healthy his contract will end up one of the best in terms of value in the league.

This team seems to be doing well and winning without Doughty. Can't help but feel a savvy GM would at least explore some options in moving him for a legit 1C to fill the large void Kopitar is gonna leave in his absence. Not sure who the trade partner would be and I doubt anyone would move a young 1C in that regard. I wouldn't trade Brady Tkachuk for him that's for sure. We already had that debacle trading a top defender for a winger with Fiala/Faber.

Any trade partner would need to be on DD’s 7 team trade list. In any case its improbable that Blake’s moves him especially as he’d almost certainly be the best piece in any deal, without us adding additional meaningful assets.

I could see him wanting to go to Toronto, and the only center I'd want from them is Matthews, which ain't happening. Big no to Tavares at his age.

DD is never being traded by the Kings....unless DD demanded it and forced their hand. It's simply not happening.

Same with Kopi -- he's not being traded (nor should he be).

Might as well talk about how many in Congress are green lizard aliens.

If Blake is doing his due diligence, he should approach Doughty and ask where he thought the Kings were and if he wanted to be traded to a contender if he didn't think the Kings were one. Doughty probably wants one more crack at the cup and if he doesn't think the Kings are getting there, he might want to explore possibilities himself... Just a quiet talk between the GM and the player, and if there is no interest on Doughty's part it ends there.

I don't know if there's a tactful way to have that conversation, though - I've never been a GM, lol.

Blake thinks we’re winning. Why trade a guy to go to a contender when we are a contender?!?

It’s not happening- Unless it crashes and burns horribly, and the team is bottom 5 with a new GM

He did trade JQ (and cursed is he for doing so). The one human factor that may impede moving DD is his divorce and joint custody (which I recall reading). That would really disrupt the family if he were in another city half the year.

gretzky got traded. so did quick.
Cal got traded. So did PL

Am I doing this right?

Got a month or so before Doughty getting the puck, running to the back of the net. Waiting for all the forwards to get in position & come to a complete stop before passing to Mikey who is then responsible for ripping a 2 line pass into coverage. :help:

That will be followed up by Doughty making moves in the offensive zone. "Looking for a play" before ending up behind the offensive net. He'll get a weak shot from the side on a set goalie & realize he's behind the other teams net & the puck is leaving the zone. King's defender that's actually good at defending is completely out of the play.

Wonder how his hand is doing after the injury. Sometimes those take a year to get back. Looked like he got around to practicing his slapper because wristing the puck wasn't working anymore. Maybe Doughty will just rip a slapper (into someone's shin pads) instead of getting in the dreaded passing loop with Kopi on the PP.

Coach needs to make Kopi & Doughty stay an hour after practice & run a drill where they have 3 passes max before they have to rip a shot at the net. Not joking. PP sucks anyways so at least it'll be entertaining.

He's got 2 more years at $11m, and he's 35. There's not a GM alive that could get a legit 1C for him. If you even know such a trade wouldn't happen, why put it out there?
