Sens have an 86 point ceiling.

Flyers: 83 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 1-4-1
Capitals: 82 pts, 8 GR -- worse than 2-6-0
Red Wings: 82 pts, 7 GR -- worse than 2-5-0
Islanders: 81 pts, 7 GR - worse than 2-4-1
Penguins: 79 pts,, 7 GR - worse than 3-3-1
...etc...

You do realize we suck and aren't making the playoffs, right?

Sens have an 84-point ceiling.

They can suffer one of the following teams meeting their worse-than records, but not two. I have not looked into tiebreakers.

Flyers: 83 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 0-5-1
Islanders: 83 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 0-5-1
Capitals: 82 pts, 7 GR -- worse than 1-6-0
Red Wings: 82 pts, 7 GR -- worse than 1-6-0
Penguins: 81 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 1-5-1
Buffalo: 77 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 3-2-1
Devils: 76 pts, 6 GR -- worse than 4-2-0
Canadiens: 70 pts, 7 GR -- worse than 6-0-1

Note to the reader: this post is not meant to suggest that the Sens have a snowball's chance in hell to make the playoffs. It is not meant to suggest that the futility of this season wasn't evident at the end of November. It is pure masochism. If you are new to masochistic fandom, welcome! It's not for everyone.

Most of us were well aware that this was the reality in November-December 2023.
With the general attitude of the board (totally deserved) people will think we are out of playoffs until the moment we have clinched.

Last year we were 4 points out of the playoffs at the trade deadline or around there and people were not calling the following games meaningful lol.

I believe there hasn't been any meaningful games played since March 25 2017.

I hope it didn't take my elimination tracker posts to make you realize that.

I hope that's not the conclusion you got to if you've seen any of my posts for the past several weeks or months...

Wait, I have to read your backstory, but you don't have to read back a few pages in this thread to understand mine?

I've seen you post this several times and I always thought "why is he doing this for a bottom feeder team?"

Are any other basement teams listing all the games remaining right now and what it would take to make the playoffs or be eliminated?

No one else is doing this because they know they're not making the playoffs.

They're tracking the bottom teams for the first overall pick chances.

Why that date? Typo maybe?

Game 7 vs Pittsburgh was on Thu, May 25

Wait, the Sens aren't mathematically eliminated yet? That's surprising with a 33-38 record that late in the season. I guess it's because Islanders/Wings/Caps/Pens are not that good

It might happen tonight! :baghead: If the Flyers and Capitals both win, I would have to check on our tie-breaker with the Caps.

Nobody wanted to give management that after it was their stated goal of the season. The team immediately falling flat made it an easier argument at the time. In hindsight, it might have been better off not to have "meaningful games" after how hard the team shit the bed in them.

Yeah but aren't mathematically apparently which is a bit surprising

For me, it's in December when we went from 11-11 to 11-17
They are mathematically. Washington and Philly and Washington and Detroit play each other. It's mathematically impossible for 2/3 of those teams to finish with less than 84 points, because of who the teams ahead of us are playing it always results in 2 points to one of the teams ahead of us.

Almost eliminated but not yet, as Ottawa would win a tie breaker on RW if win out, if other teams lose all their games but head to head.

The Capitals can beat the Flyers and Red Wings and finish over 84 points. I don't see other head-to-heads in that group that guarantee points in that pack of teams.

No mercy shown us tonight. The teams that could knock us out all lost.

Sens ceiling is still 84 PTS.

Islanders: 83 PTS, 6 GR — worse than 0-5-1
Flyers: 83 PTS, 5 GR — worse than 0-4-1
Capitals: 82 PTS, 6 GR — worse than 0-5-1
Red Wings: 82 PTS, 6 GR — worse than 0-5-1
Penguins: 81 PTS, 6 GR — worse than 1-4-1
Sabres: 79 PTS, 5 GR — worse than 2-2-1
Devils: 76 PTS, 6 GR — worse than 4-2-0

Yes, the Capitals play the Flyers on April 16, so one of them will win. The list above includes 3rd place in the Metro, so the Sens are still alive with one of those two teams winning that night.

Tomorrow night, an Islanders win or a Senators loss will eliminate the Sens. An Islanders OTL and a Senators win does not eliminate our good team, as we have the regulation-win tiebreaker.
