I get why fans are booing hall (and Kovy). Both left on a source of sour or odd notes (one was verbally, and the other was straight up ninja shock). They still boo'ed the shit outta Kovy when he came here as LA / or Montreal
Hall was visibly calling out fans (with the cupping gesture) and in the post-games earlier, angry at fans reactions when he was playing like crap and then blaming fans for their booing of the him/team when we were in the dumps.
(My opinion, I think as a professional you shouldn't engage in that kind of crap towards your own paying fans of the team. just take the boo's and move on and be a pro). That's what Kovy did when he first came back, he was like "it shows they care, it shows how upset they are, i get it"
Kovalchuk left -- very shockingly, of course -- but he didn't say anything bad about NJ, he just left us out of thin air at a very tough time when we had literally no more forward top 6 guys but Elias. No one as a fan saw that coming and people reacted since he effectively quit on the team. Kovy never bashed NJ or anything, he just left. I understand the anger at a loss as he was a polarizing elite player that a lot of fans turned the corner on him and really started to like him.
Kovalchuk at least help bring us a SCF final in a fairly dominanting fashion. If it weren't for that last series he probably would have had ConnSm, as he was tied in Playoff Points until he entered the SCF.
I think people have more fond memories of Kovy as he was a generally happy spirit on this team,, even after he started off on the wrong foot with the McLean era, fail shootout LOL). Then Lemaire came in and changed everything about his game and he was awesome for us until the last quarter of that final season he left.
Anyway not to derail, just my opinion. (old Kovy/ATL bias here - was my second favorite team).
I was a fan of hall, he probably shouldn't be boo'ed, but he shouldn't have also thrown shade at his own fans.
EDIT: For
@NJDevs26 , I know you know this not meaning to inform you of stuff you know, I'm just storytelling on a close topic of mine
