Value of: Andrew Mangiapane to the Toronto Maple Leafs

I think it depends if he gets term or not. On a 1 year deal, I can see 4-4.5m

Manta got 3.5m last summer on a 1 year deal, with the cap rising 4-4.5 seems on par.

Very confident Toronto will make a pitch at around 3.5. Would really strengthen the middle 6 group.

Can’t imagine there are many good testimonies about playing in Toronto right now. We booed a 100 point player on our own team. We’ll see if Mangiapane has interest in coming home.

Please. They booed the team and most specifically all the decisions that lead to that moment. Marner was booed because we all know he is walking for nothing and he did worse than nothing when it counted again (along with Matthews)

I swear that Leaf fans will be Leaf fans;

-Marner is a small player
-Marner is soft
-We need more physical players
-We need to be tough to play against in the playoffs

Two of the top few threads on here are Mangiapane to the Leafs and Marchessault to the Leafs. It’s like Leaf fans are happy to get smaller and lesser players than Marner.

Mangiapane plays bigger than he is. I’m not his biggest fan, but his work ethic and his compete are not an issue

We do want size in the top 6 but you know what we want more?

Guys that raise their game in the playoffs.

And Marchessault can do that we've seen it.

Size in the top 6 is a want

Playoff gamers is a NEED

Mangiapane is the exact type of guy that everyone is going to get insane sticker shock at the price for in the new cap landscape

Mangi would be a good add to any hockey team. Just not at his previous salary that was an overpay at 5.8M.

His role diminished somewhat with the Caps, but he would be a good fit with the Leafs I think.

As of this season in Washington that's... not a lie, but it's often colored by saying "hey, he did his best there and a lot more than some other guys would do... but did still lose the puck battle"

I didn't find him to be particularly effective.

I agree. I was just pointing out that although Mangiapane has plenty of flaws, work ethic and compete aren’t among them

Must have been an off year for him, because in Calgary he was a good cornerman. Very effective on the forecheck too.

Looks like a good fit. GM who knows him should give him a 2nd chance after a really bad season. I doubt he's getting many offers so shocked to see the numbers thrown here. He was on the brink of being a healthy-scratch.

1-year deal at around 1.5m i can see, either Toronto or Calgary.

only spitballing but it seems like a reps thing

small and surprisingly effective/tenacious does better with a lot of opportunity and kind of loses the feel with third line minutes
