Not sure if this is thread worthy but it looks like Blake has shipped Andreoff to the Lightning for Peter Budaj.

Weird to reacquire Budaj, unless it's just for mentorship in the AHL? Not sure what to think. Pretty minor deal though in the grand scheme of things.

Kings Trade Andy Andreoff to Lightning, Reacquire Peter Budaj

Given the injury risk that is Quick, I don't mind having a bunch of spare parts lying around.

My understanding is that Budaj's salary (almost certainly intentionally) is equal to the maximum amount that can be buried in the AHL without a cap penalty, so no harm there.

AA was about as useful as a bag of rocks. i like how all the articles ive read compliment him on his "grit" but there were so many times i wanted him to destroy someone or drop the gloves and it was as if they were glued to his hands. the 'No Fighting In Hockey' crowd wont like this comment but i can't please everyone

Blake giving Andy a chance to make the roster of a different team. Classy move by Blake. Tampa will give Andy a shot, they are looking for some grit in the bottom lines.

Not good for prospect Kehler, unless Blake is acquiring depth players to make additional moves giving him more pieces. Not sorry to see AA go.
Why? They can just start him in the ECHL and hell be in Ontario the following year.

Thanks for everything?

Good luck in Tampa, you'll need it.

Kehler starting in the ECHL isn't necessarily bad news. Petersen is likely to get the lion's share of the starts in Ontario, so it might be more beneficial for Kehler to get more action elsewhere.

Tyler Parsons had a pristine junior resume but even he had to start in the ECHL last year and took his lumps in the process.

2018-19:
NHL: Quick/Campbell
AHL: Petersen/Budaj
ECHL: Kehler

2019-20:
NHL: Quick/Campbell
AHL: Petersen (RFA)/Kehler
ECHL: Villalta

2020-21:
NHL: Quick/Petersen?
AHL: Kehler (RFA)/Villalta

The return is irrelevant. This roster needs to get way more skilled and way less gritty, assuming that his spot goes to a player with an NHL skill set it’s an improvement to the bottom line.
That leaves 4 "gritty" forwards left on our team with Thompson, Clifford, Brown, and Lewis.

Not to mention Quick also started his pro career in the ECHL.

As for Andreoff, best of luck to him.

I swear if AA goes out next year and scores 25 goals next year with tampa I am going to take up pinochle in the park and f*** hockey..................hopefully he does well good soldier, just never saw a guy not score as much as him , there were spells he couldn't even get hit by the puck

Brown scored enough last year to warrant his spot, he is the Kings version of Tom Wilson, having a gritty player who can score enough to compliment skilled players on a top 6 line is a big thing, Lucic in his prime with the Bruins was that kind of player also. Lewis contributes on the PK and scored enough last year to also warrant his spot on the roster, neither Brown or Lewis are strictly gritty players.

The Kings had to many guys who provided nothing but grit, in today's league you need more from a 4th line than just a couple of big hits or fights, far to many games last year the Kings had negative shifts from those lines, getting rid of a guy like Andreoff helps change the identity of the bottom lines, which is long long overdue.

Good luck to Andreoff. Blake sent him to a team where he has a better chance for playing time.

Given the depth Tampa Bay has up front, I'm not sure if that will be the case for Andreoff. I figure he'd be used in a similar role of being a healthy scratch for the most part, should he make their team.

Jon Rosen stating that Andreoff would have been hard pressed to make the Kings out of camp this season leads me to believe that the team is going to be making some promotions from within and/or making upgrades up front, which is very much needed.
