We were right there
Guys, it's obviously a joke parodying the legit goodbye threads we have for players that were part of cup teams. relax.
Only thing I'll remember is that sweet fake shot/pass that Kopi tipped in.
Remember that one time in that one game where he got an assist? I'll never forget that moment. Dude is a Kings Legend.
Sekera is right up there with the likes of Peter Ahola, Rick Knickle, David Goverde, Dan Gratton and Craig Duncanson.
Is this thread a joke? What should we be appreciative of?

Rick Knickle is the best name for a goalie in NHL history, bar none.
None!!!
It's solid but I also liked Eldon "Pokey" Reddick (Winnipeg).
Honourable mentions to Darren Puppa and Ron Tugnutt.
I don't even think the Kings offered 5.5 million . Sekera is not some driver of production . He is minute eating Defender that doesn't hurt you defensively.
He doesn't exactly score alot or generate a bunch of offense. I wouldn't pay 5 million for him. Especially at 29 years of age.
5.5 million is a lot to pay a more mobile version of Rob Scuderi in his prime.
It's definitely worth it for EDM though. They lack NHL minute eaters on D.
I read somewhere where they did offer him $5.5 MM, but not even close to the number of years that EDM offered him.
No, don't ask me for a link. Today is a holiday.
FTR Sekera said on Edmonton radio that LA didn't offer him a contract.
Here we go with semantics again.
No, I didn't mean they dumped a sheaf of papers on his desk and threw a pen in his face. If he is being literal, then so be it.
1. Lombardi said they made an counter-offer to him during the playoffs, after his side made an offer. They had continuing, ongoing discussions about him returning to the team, and money was involved in the discussion. Those are deemed to be offers under Contract Law, and they are enforceable.
2. Sekera went out of his way to tell the Kings (and another team, don't remember which one yet), that they were out of the running one day before he signed with EDM. Why would anyone do that if no offer was made? Did he tell the Coyotes, Flames, Stars, and any other team that didn't make him an offer the same thing?
He was asked point blank whether or not LA made an offer, the quote was that his agent didn't notify him of any offer, the quote is something along the lines of "LA was interested but didn't make me any offer that I know of according to my agent" . maybe his agent didn't tell him of offer(s) but I think what he said is pretty straight forward. I imagine he notified them because they traded for him and all the other teams you mentioned did not (which I think is pretty normal for a player in that situation to do) and because they obviously were interested even if they hadn't put an offer in at that point.
