Probably the best for which we could have hoped. I thought it possible to fetch a second, but I'm not complaining about the 3rd.
Is this the real deal, TSN hasn't even reported it... I think it might be bogus?
A 3rd for a pending UFA Dman who can't play defense isn't bad.
Bill knows what's up.
Media speculation at this point.
The Flyers added a defenseman on Tuesday -- and now they have traded one away.
According to Dan Murphy of SportsNet in Canada, the Flyers have agreed to trade Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a third-round pick.
The deal has yet to be confirmed by the Flyers.
Meszaros has played for the Flyers since 2010, and has five goals to go along with 12 assists this season.
They jsut said it was a deal on TSN
Nothing extraordinary but in a recent pregame show on radio (not verbatim):
Tim Saunders: Bundy, Meszaros has been playing well of late.
Chris Therien: Yes, Tim, he has provided the offense, scored a couple of goals, had a spark...
Saunders: and his defense?
Therien: Um, yaaaaaahhhhh, it's getting there, could be better...
You get the picture.
Not bad, but we all know Gus still for whatever reason will be benched for Grossmann
Flyers have over $6M in cap space right now. This doesn't sound like a thing that will still be a thing in an hour.
With Andrew MacDonald in the fold, the Flyers had little use for defenseman Andrej Meszaros.
The Flyers traded Meszaros, who was scheduled to be scratched for the 25th game this season tonight against Washington, to the Bruins in exchange for a third-round pick.
The deal was first reported by Rogers Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy.
Meszaros, 28, had his confidence shaken by numerous injuries and a lack of playing time with the Flyers. After a 295-game ironman streak to begin his career, Meszaros has dealt with multiple shoulder injuries and surgeries, a lower-back issue and a torn Achilles tendon.
Aaand he's gone! Wouldn't hurt if we got a second instead, but i'm happy anyway! Good luck in Boston Mez
The Philadelphia Flyers have traded defenceman Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a third-round draft pick.
In 38 games with the Flyers this season, Meszaros has scored five goals an added 12 assists.
Meszaros, 28, is currently in the final year of a six-year deal he signed prior to the 2008-09 season worth an average annual value of $4 million. He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
I hoped that Grossman /Schenn would be going when MacDonald was acquired.Wish Grossmann would get shipped out as well...
I hoped that Grossman /Schenn would be going when MacDonald was acquired.
A 3rd is not bad for Meszaros, a 2nd would have been better.
Seems like teams are not overpaying for players.
