He's a good player, but I'm with those who think he's just a better version of Helm. Great speed, like seriously great speed, that he uses well to setup some good scoring opportunities and to defend well enough. Decent shot on the kid. IMO, he has 2nd line W potential i.e. 20-20 guy.

If I had to put a value on him, I'd say he's worth a late 1st round pick. However, it's kind of a tricky one in that he's probably worth more than that to DET because of what he could become and less to other teams because he's still unproven/a risky prospect.

I'd love him as part of an Tatar + AA for Fowler deal. I think it could work out well for both teams.

He wont be moved for picks, Pretty much tell you that now. He would be included in a package deal with either Nyquist/Tatar for like Fowler or Shattenkirk for a D upgrade not picks.

For what it's worth according to Kahn the Ducks were asking for one of AA/Mantha + 16th pick at the draft for Fowler.

I always liked him. I was hoping Jets wouldve traded Ladd there as a rental for him. I think he may end up in a package deal, but Id love to add him to our roster.

The Helm comparisons are absurd imo. Skating ability is the only thing they have in common. AA is far more talented offensively, not even close.

Yeah but he barely even shoots the puck to begin with, he mostly just circles around the zone like a chicken with its head cut off until he inevitably loses possession.

Detroit doesn't need D prospects, unless they're of the high end variety. They have enough of their own prospects they are high on.

Athanasiou is one of the most electrifying players on the roster. He's 6'2, skates like the wind, and has incredible hands. He'll be in a Red Wings jersey for a long time.

This...

They dont even play the same game. One has hands and the ability to find open ice with and without his speed, brings size, etc.

Helm has rocks for hands, has below average vision and cannot find space in the offensive zone if you threatened him with death.

There's no comparison other than speed.

I read somewhere, Just before the draft that Murray was asking for Tatar/Nyquist+Detroit's 2016 2nd round pick. Pretty sure as it got closer to the draft though then it became Mantha/AA+ Detroit's 16th overall pick.
