Seravalli: Andersson and Flames “not on the same page” for contract extension

I wonder what one year of Anderson is worth. I guess it’s almost like he has a ful NMC because his value goes way up if he’ll agree to an extension first.

What will a one year rental cost?

Definitely helps the Flames that the only impact RH defenseman available in free agency is Ekblad (assuming Fabbro gets done and even then he’s a tier below until we get more of a track record with him at his Columbus level). After Ekblad, the shopping absolutely craters to depth guys.

The only want to get an impact RHD this off-season is basically to trade for one.

I think it makes sense for the Flames to trade him since Weegar is better and Parekh incoming. Best comp would be Lindholm 1st +2nd + 2nd. I found he lost a step last year so I would rather go for a bit of a discount but if Flames fans who answered me on another discussion are right and it was just bad luck that explains the abysmal +/- then I d say he gets the Lindholm return.

Trade will happen after July 1st.

I’m curious to see the return as he will have a big say in his destination.
Could be before if CGY want a pick this year : DET MTL CBJ PHI OTT all have picks in 13–22 Range and could use Andersson. If Lindholm is the Right comp with 1st + 2x2nd in two later drafts, you re probably in that range.

He probably “lost a step” cause he was playing the last 12-15 games with a broken leg. That’ll do it
