Andersen decision looming for Leafs

Who cares? You know why? Cuz SOUP is our tender. Andersen is Carolinas concerns and ours on Jan 3rd. 2022

After years of taking it easy on Andersen in practice, I'm not worried about the Leafs' capabilities to beat him. lol f*** Andersen. Guy sucked for us. Blew multiple playoff series. Let in softies which wrecked multiple game 7s. Guy had a chance to step up on one of the best teams this city has ever seen, and shit the bed. We'd have had a cup already with Campbell level goaltending.

Yeah I guess if you're forgetting that Campbell was a key player in the Leafs blowing a 3-1 series lead...

And that's not to say it was his fault because it wasn't but he was definitely a part of it, such is the case with any goalie.

Teams win together and lose together.

It's hilarious how much people enjoy pinning everything on one single player on a hockey team.

How can that be when it was the Leafs management that felt the need to protect 4 Dmen including Justin Holl (D) in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft?

Only 3 teams the 2 X Stanley Cup Champs TB and Nashville along with our Leafs valued their Dcore to protect 4 and only 8 players.

Carolina's Freddy Andersen new team didn't protect 4 Dmen in expansion so his Record : 7-0-0 (1st), GA/G: 1.29 (2nd), SV%: .956 (3rd) with 1 SO seems even more impressive.

Compared to Leafs goalie Jack Campbell ... Record: 3-2-1 (Tied-12th), GA/G: 2.31 (16th), SV% : .918 (21st) with 0 shutouts.

The stats seem to suggest either Carolina has the better goalie or the better defense or both.

Freddy Andersen: SV% .939, GAA 1.83
Jack Campbell: SV% .936, GAA 1.88

He is still a good goalie. Campbell won the starting job in Toronto. Good luck to Freddy.

There's a lot of Leafs Fans that still need to acknowledge this.

Far from washed, you put him on an excellent defensive team (real defence, not make-believe blogger stat defence) and he performs.

Who woulda thunk it?

Aside from me.

Are you saying Carolina is a better team? If that's the case, then Campbell > Andersen right? Similar stats, worse team.

He might very well be...

Campbell's 10-bell saves have been coming in fast and furious.

Andersen has had less of those to deal with.

I'm not sure which is the more envious situation to have, you know what I mean?

You left the Win column out.

Just a little bit important no?
Team stat.

Campbell's been every bit as good as Freddy so far, possibly better. Not his fault the Leafs constantly hung him out to dry the first 6 games of the season.

GAA and SV%

Also a team stat I'm afraid to say.

Only one of these stats gets you to the playoffs and to next round though, and that's the W-L column.

You have to prioritize that IMO.

Main stat is:

Freddy: 2-6 in his career with a chance to end a series.
Campbell: 0-3 in his career with a chance to end a series.

Both 0-3 with Toronto.

Both have something to prove come playoff time, especially Campbell who is yet to pick up a series-winning game in his career and was bad in 3 tries against MTL.
