Highly recommend Lake Superior Provincial Park in Ontario. Lucky enough to grow up with that in my backyard and it's truly one of the most prestine places you can imagine.

That is some gorgeous scenery up that way! I drove up to Wawa a few years ago for a road trip saw some black bear and moose, waterfalls and did some hiking. Would like to do it every year but don’t always have the time.

Both sides of the lake truly are. Hope to check out Pictured Rocks before the summer is over on the American side.

We camped up there a few years back, hiked up to Spray falls one day, and kayaked down a river to Lake Superior and over to Spray falls another day. Had a great time, sat under the falls with the water spraying on us. Maybe not the best idea though, rocks wash off the falls and had a small one hit me in the head.
Hope ya get a chance to check it out. The boat tour of course is a nice trip too.

That spray falls hike looks like a nice one, do you get lots of the hike along the lake shore or more inland ?

Find the fastest tour available.

Curious why fastest?

Yep, the town's name is Chippewa after Chippewa Valley High School where the director Paul Feig graduated from.

A1 Sporting Goods on 16 mile road in Chippewa, MI. Fictional sporting goods store on Metropolitan Parkway (16 mile).

Also, the Rusty Nail in the show would be the current "The Nail" on Groesbeck Highway.

Ohhh…I remember the rusty nail. Right next to the old trucker school. That place was a hole but they didn’t check IDs.

The ride we took was 3 hours -2 hours out and 1 hour back and they stopped both ways. They just drove way slower on the way out. Personally, I'd have gotten just as much out of it if the whole trip was 2 hours but the wife was fine with it.

Personally, I enjoyed the hikes and what not more. And I really enjoyed the Lake Superior Brewing Company in Grand Marais.

Thanks for that. The wife and I may go check that trail out this weekend.

Yep. You get to see a lot more in less time, and the one we went with last summer was a real fun experience, on top of the great views of Pictured Rocks.

Riptide Ride

@saska sault, I'd recommend this one. The tour guide we got was the owner and he did a great job. The boat is fast and maneuverable (don't take pictures with your phone when the boat is at speed, you could easily lose it in the drink). You get a little wet wet and the wind can be intense, so dress warm-ish, at least with long sleeves, and try to go on a sunny day.

And I really enjoyed the Lake Superior Brewing Company in Grand Marais.
That place was crushed when we went. Ended up getting a table out on the small patio, so didn't get to experience all the "culture" going on inside, but still had a good time.

Really? Wife and I would leave the kids in the rental and would walk down every night around 8 and the place was always really quiet and awesome. We'd usually get fries with bleu cheese dipping sauce and I'd get the hematite stout.

Between that and the breakfast food truck Grand Marais really made us happy food wise.

Yeah, and it was a Tuesday haha. I was surprised. Maybe something else in town had been going on, I dunno. Servers seemed borderline overwhelmed that night. We were only there for the day/evening. We day-tripped from Manistique Lake.

Good ol' Munising.

Went there last August. Riptide Ride was some good fun. The rocks are super cool.

If you're swinging over the Mackinac Bridge, on the way back, try to hit Kitch-iti-kipi. Beautiful clear lake with an observation deck. Just a little bit out of the way on 2.

The falls on the way (Tahquamenon) are pretty killer too.

Edit: In Munising, by the Riptide Ride launch spot, there is a pasty place called Muldoons. Top end UP pasty.

Some buddies and I are going to do the 24 hours of lemons in 2025 and I'm looking for ideas for racing team names.

Suggestions?

24 Hours of Lemons - Wheel to Wheel Racing for $500 Cars

Also, is there anyone here that's selling a shitbox car that is somehow magically running for $500?:naughty:
Oh man, it's a blast. I think the team I used to drive with is still running, you're making me want to reach back out to them. We ran a Subaru Impreza with an SVX motor back when, but I think they've upgraded since.

I don't have a shitbox car for you, but as for names.... Vlad the Impala? Gotta race an Impala though I guess. Eh. I'll keep working on this.

Edit: Found this old pic... lining up to do the reverse slalom competition at Gingerman back in 2016.

24 hours of lemons? I knew it as the Gambler. My little brother found several shitty shitty Cavaliers or Escorts to run into the absolute ground and drip oil everywhere.

You gotta troll on facebook marketplace and craigslist and hope for luck. That's where the shitbox cars that might operate (but won't usually have creature comforts like air conditioning, a rear bumper, or windows that close all the way.

Today I learned Jaster actually does cool stuff.o_O

One of my teammates is in Chicago so I'm going to fly out at some point in the next few months. We'll have to grab a beer next time I'm in town.

There were also those times I flew Air Force jets 20+ years ago, but that's it, those are the only two cool things I've ever done (I like to go fast). The rest of my life I either drink alcohol or fumble my way around a sheet of ice sometimes scoring goals off my ass.

So yeah, always up for a beer. Definitely hmu when you're in town.

This is pretty fortuitous timing with all the Munising talk; my wife and I are headed up there in October.

If anyone had some hikes they liked that haven't been mentioned then please do dish 'em. We travel for nature and beer.

I think I've asked this before, but do we have any Tampa area Wings here? I'm in Sarasota/Bradenton and have season tickets to the Lightning and have gone to every Lightning/Red Wing game her ein Tampa the past 4 years. My favorite being the last one where my friends borrowed my jerseys and my Fiancé wore here Lightning jersey.

Very nice. My brother-in-law's sister is down there. So my niece got to go to Amalie Arena when she was young and they made a deal of it.

On a completely different note, I read the Russian Five book written by Keith Gave. Quite good.

1) Holy shit, the Wings did some cloak and dagger stuff in the mid to late 1980s.
2) Fetisov and Larionov are two absolutely incredible men
3) I was exceedingly right in choosing Slava Kozlov as my favorite player when I was young because he's a badass.
4) And the horrifying events of Richard Gnida crashing the limo with Konstantinov, Fetisov, and Mnatsakanov are still burned in my mind forever. Edit: Thank god Igor got his arm twisted into swimming at the pool by his daughters the day of that golf outing. Because he would have been in that limo too.

Watched the doc, gotta read the book still.

The crash... aside from the horrific consequences for the individuals involved, I still remember the initial reports that night that "Fedorov is dead." Before the 24-hour news cycle. I don't think I heard confirmation that Fedorov wasn't dead until the next day.
