Hes been pretty good.... the defense still kinda leaves our goalies out to dry. This seems terrifying. His numbers have been meh to abysmal for years now, and by eye, he just wasn't playing well.
His numbers are up this year, but with a pretty lax schedule. If Skinner is in the deal, Gibson would be the guy with no plan B.
Ducks fans - Is Gibson back to starter's form? Or is he a 1B and no more?
Pickard is better than Skinner and has a better cap hit.Switch Skinner to Pickard…,
Thanks. If Dostal is the future in Anaheim, it's a solid return.Hes been pretty good.... the defense still kinda leaves our goalies out to dry.
As for his stats in previous years he generally started out pretty solid up until the anaheim team kinda stopped having a chance. Seemed more like he just stopped playing because it wasnt going to change much.
Filtering for goalies that have played at least 70 games over the last 2.5 seasons, Skinner is ranked 15th in sv%. He's on a cheap contract.
The oilers should keep him. They'd be better off trading picks and prospects for a forward or top 4 dman imo.
The Ducks went from historically bad defense to just one of the worst in the league. His numbers were bad under the old defense, especially because he didn't get any easy games. The backup goalies got all the starts against other bottom 5 or bottom 10 teams, and Gibson got shelled against the good ones. Last year was probably the only legitimately bad year where a good goalie would have put up much better numbers. This seems terrifying. His numbers have been meh to abysmal for years now, and by eye, he just wasn't playing well.

PV hasn’t really showed he’s willing to come down on Gibson price. To Edmonton:
Gibson at 50% (3.2M x 3 Years)
To Anaheim:
Calvin Pickard
2024 2nd Round Pick
2024 3rd Round Pick
To Anyone:
Jeff Skinner (3M x 1 Year)
I'm not sure that's enough for Anaheim. They might be motivated to move him if he wants out. They also have an internal budget and Dostal getting paid, they might not want to pay his for his full amount to be a backup.

It doesn't really matter what other teams are interested if Gibson isn't willing to waive his NMC to them, this will hurt his trade value and don't see a trade anywhere near the OP valueI think he's looked good this year. He's made some adjustments ... playing a bit deeper, and it seems to be working better for him. Aggressively challenging shooters in recent years with a leaky defense just didn't work.
At 50% his cap hit is that of a good backup these days, not a ton of risk at that AAV. But I suspect at that retention there may be a couple other teams interested as well.
I think the Oilers might want a goalie. Remember, Skinner-Pickard was Ken Holland's duo. Bowman has had a good while to see what he has in Skinner-Pickard, and while I don't like him, history shows us that he liked having a clear cut #1 goalie in net, where Holland was fine making a tandem duo to do the job. So Bowman might have it on his "goals" list to get a more proven #1. I could see them wanting Gibson to replace Pickard, and run whichever of Skinner and Gibson is hotter at the time. No, that isn't the "true #1", but it does create a battle between two goalies, one young, one veteran, which should push Skinner to be better.Oilers fans want a goalie, but it's not happening. How much more do we need to beat this to death.
