Very true. IMHO Cutter has a little more upside in terms of long term value to our rebuild, mainly due to his combo of size and high end shot that are severely lacking in our system. We need more high end players that can push some weight around when needed.

I guess I don't value the draft pick as much as some, even if it's a high 2nd. The chance of that pick becoming a high end NHL player is so low and so far away that it's worth the toss in.
LaCombe, Colangelo, Zellweger, Luneau, Clara, and Pettersson have been 2nd round picks for us the last 6 years.

I have zero issues giving up that second for Gauthier. Obviously, we'll see what he becomes, but the risk was worth it to get a scorer like he projects to be.

I mean the jury is still out on all of those guys, barring maybe LaCombe at this point. But I will concede that the Ducks hit on dmen seemingly much more consistently than other teams, so maybe in that context if we used it on a defender it would have more value to us.

I guess I meant more of the timeline involved. We've had a decent amount of "darts" used on 2nd/3rd rounders over the past few drafts that we're hoping will start coming to fruition in the next couple years. Losing a dart in the 2025 draft that at best will probably become an okay NHL player in 2028-2029 is worth it (IMO) for the upside of pushing the Gauthier deal over the edge.

I'm also guessing there's going to be more TDL deals and picks to be had this season once we're out of contention, with Vatrano being the biggest one.

thanks @mightyquack !

The bullet about us “having a lot of good young RHD so trading Drysdale was ok” is a bit weird to me.

He must be really high on Luneau AND he must think we can sign Moore.

Because we really don’t have a lot of good young RHD

Not criticizing the trade that’s just an interesting quote
I also think Verbeek is a lot higher on Warren than many fans. Different style, but a RHD.

This isn't really Ducks related but would anyone have recommendations for relatively short (think of an hour in length) daily show (podcast, video, any media) where they would go through results and topics league wide?

I don't have any recommendations for a daily show, but The Puck Podcast is a weekly show where they do exactly what you're looking for. It's about a 2.5 hour show that usually includes the results and league-wide news, plus an interview or some other special topic, and then a mailbag portion. It's hosted by two SoCal residents - one a Ducks fan and one a Kings fan, but they do a good job of covering the entire league.

Nice, thank you! I will check them out. For a weekly show 2.5 hours should be alright.

So I was bored at lunch and looked to see who Dan Wood follows. Looks like he has unfollowed any and all Ducks related accounts. I don’t think that was an easy breakup for him.

Etem sounds so much more natural in these. He still says some crazy homer stuff, but that’s just what he does.
He’s a good podcaster. But he’s really struggling to say relevant things in a normal tone during games, though. The homer stuff I don’t really care about but his delivery is very clunky and uneven and it’s jarring.

The only parts of his podcasts I can’t stand are when he takes random callers and has conversations with them. Idk how often he’s done it, but I have to skip it every time because I can’t stand the cringe.

I don't know his quality, but here is another person reporting on Anaheim.
Always happy to have more Ducks coverage but, woof. This writing.

"As they are looking to move past these woes they have been in the midst of a rebuild but are looking to come to the end of it as they will feature a roster that features plenty of young talent across the ice."

Sentences are hard, gotta get those reps.

Should have gone to university instead of state school for journalism.
