And then when they gave him the best 4th line in Avs history, he played it as the 3rd line
Messier - Yelle - Podein

That was the best 3rd line in Avs history, wasn't that 4th line some combination of Reinprecht/Hinote/Reid/Dingman?
My reputation should have you thinking everything is always 100% correct and factual. It's funny, your reputation has me thinking everything you say is filled with sarcasm. Not sure if this post was too, lol.
He's been excellent at finding space in the slot over the past few games, and, even more impressively, actually finishing those chances. Would be huge for our power play to have a fourth area that's a genuine threat beside the cross ice MacK one timer, the cross ice Mikko one timer, and Makar up topI'm probably one of his biggest haters on this board, but I'll give props when it's due. Colton had a heck of a game tonight.
Colton is scoring goals and being physical too. The guy had a great start to the season. Hopefully it continues
Get a 3C at trade deadline and let Colton do his thing on the wing.
That wouldn’t be a bad idea but if we finally get everyone back including Landy, we gonna have a 3rd line which will have either Landy or Lehky on it on the wing. Probably no room for Colton on the wing. He has to play centerGet a 3C at trade deadline and let Colton do his thing on the wing.

If they drafted Dostal he would be killing it...in Loveland.Puked in my mouth seeing we drafted Ranta and Annunen over Dostal in the third round of 2018.
Even if the drafting after the top picks has improved (I’m not certain it has), we consistently are the bottom half of the league in drafting.
So 3C and 4C are a need then.

They did. It was a perfect effort. Except for the goalie that let in 3 so so to bad goals. Should have been a 6-0 laugher their goalie played well so maybe 3-0.Our guys played a heck of a game yesterday. Dostal was the reason why the game was so close.
I enjoyed what the guys did yesterday. Hope we see more of that.
Yep. The Avs refuse to develop players. If they don't perform instantly in a 4th line role they get buried with Eagles. It's utter garbage. If they drafted Dostal he would be killing it...in Loveland.
Such a god-damned good line. How much do you think a Messier-Yelle-Podein line with that level of devense would cost today?Rhino, Hinote and Dingman were all after that trio played together. Reid came in for one season while that trio was there and Podein moved up to the 3rd line.
Messier-Yelle-Podein were the 4th line for two years and played probably 60-70% of the penalty killing.
I miss Bucci's old ESPN blog. He had some of the best stories and interviews.Podein was a legend:
2004 -- Calgary vs. Tampa Bay
The non-direct flights series. And the series Shjon Podein painted himself from head to toe. Twice.
Then: Podes has good friends on both Calgary and Tampa Bay, so he decided to pay tribute in true Podes style. Before leaving Minnesota to head to Calgary for Game 3, he painted his entire body red, put "Yelle 11" on his back and sported a red Jofa hockey helmet sans the padding. And made it through airport security. Let me clarify that: He spray-painted his entire body.
Podes couldn't find body paint so he risked poisoning himself for the good of the team by emptying four cans of Krylon on his skin. Well, Podes needed a place to stay for the night and I said, "Stay with me." So, Podes comes back to the room and collapses from his long day in my bed. The only bed in the room. Now what? Well, the beds are Montana wide. You could comfortably fit Ken Hitchcock, Barry Melrose and Mark Hunter in there without incident. So, I tuck myself in on the other side and call it a night. You could have laid four Stanley Cups between us. Really! Anyway, Podes left at 6 a.m. to catch a flight. I woke up around 8. As I pulled the curtains and let in the day's light, it looked like a homicide had occurred in my bed. Podes left a body outline of red paint on the sheets. I was sure the Calgary police would have me arrested and questioned by noon. I waited until the maid service arrived to explain the giant red blotch on the sheets, and I remained a free man.
